PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ernie Suarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ernie Suarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brock Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lesnar fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Suarez, pushing him back against the cage.

Lesnar manages to break the clinch.
Suarez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lesnar tries to avoid it but Suarez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lesnar to the ground. Lesnar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Suarez tries to bum rush Lesnar with a series of wild strikes but Lesnar uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Lesnar looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Lesnar fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lesnar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Lesnar closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Suarez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Suarez on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Lesnar is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Suarez is looking to control Lesnar's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Suarez avoid being mounted?

Lesnar looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lesnar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Suarez keeps working.

Suarez wants to control but Lesnar is keeping busy.
Suarez wants to get back to his feet.
Lesnar is pressing down on Suarez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Suarez is holding on for now.
Suarez is trying to stand back up but Lesnar is controlling him

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lesnar is keen to just control but Suarez is a slippery customer.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Suarez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Suarez wants to stand but Lesnar has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lesnar can do anything to dispel that myth.
Lesnar parries the strikes from Suarez easily there. Suarez is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Lesnar to escape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lesnar is pushing Suarez's head away, looking to escape. Suarez manages to hold on to the position though.
Lesnar tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

That was a close round but I would say that Ernie Suarez will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Lesnar fails with a takedown attempt.

Lesnar gets caught flat footed, as Suarez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Suarez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lesnar tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Suarez has gone for a leg lock! Lesnar slips out almost immediately though and dives into Suarez's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Suarez keeping moving, preventing Lesnar from controlling successfully.
Suarez wants to get back to his feet but Lesnar is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Lesnar wants to stand but Suarez is controlling his posture from full guard.
Suarez thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Suarez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lesnar falls off balance throwing a combination
and Suarez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Lesnar throws a body shot but no joy.
Suarez throws a counter high kick but Lesnar was just alert enough to avoid it.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Suarez tries to pull guard but Lesnar won't allow it.

Lesnar turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Suarez is trying to get back to his feet.
Lesnar wants to stand but Suarez is controlling his arm.
Lesnar blocks the strikes from Suarez.

Suarez misses with a few strikes there.

Lesnar closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Suarez to the mat! Suarez manages to get full guard.

Suarez pushes Lesnar off and scrambles back to his feet.

Lesnar drives through and clinches with Suarez against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lesnar stalls.
Lesnar throws an elbow but it misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Brock Lesnar will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Suarez shoots in for a double leg but Lesnar sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Brock Lesnar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lesnar has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
