Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nem Sis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlo Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sis kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Tsunami. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nem Sis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Carlo Alvarez! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alvarez lands with a shot to the body. Sis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Alvarez wants to slow Sis down by chopping away at his legs. Alvarez connects with a solid leg kick. Alvarez misses with a jab, cross combination.
Alvarez lands a right hook to the body.
Sis takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Alvarez has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Sis is landing a low percentage of strikes. Alvarez lands with a thumping leg kick.
Sis walks into a jab. Alvarez connects with a crisp jab. Alvarez looks for the body kick but Sis saw that one coming. Alvarez throws a leg kick that misses. Sis throws a low kick but Alvarez avoids it. Alvarez throws out a counter right but Sis avoids it with no problem. Sis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Alvarez moves away. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Alvarez scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Alvarez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Alvarez is keen to just control but Sis is a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Sis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Alvarez working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Alvarez trying to control but Sis is working from the bottom. Sis has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Alvarez has passed into side control.
Sis is looking to regain half guard here but Alvarez keeps moving and retains side control. Alvarez postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sis is looking to reverse the position. Alvarez landing strikes. Sis is looking to regain half guard here but Alvarez keeps moving and retains side control. Alvarez in side control lands a decent elbow. Sis taking a bit of punishment here - Alvarez scoring with strikes. Alvarez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Sis is not content to let Alvarez control the position. Sis manages to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sis is looking to control Alvarez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sis avoid being mounted? Sis wants to get back to full guard. Alvarez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sis defends it well. Alvarez is looking to advance position but Sis won't allow it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Alvarez thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Sis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carlo Alvarez dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Alvarez blocks a jab. Sis slips a jab from Alvarez. Alvarez has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Alvarez throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Sis motions for Alvarez to come forward. Sis throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Sis swings widly with a right hand
and Alvarez counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Sis thinking. An inside leg kick lands from Alvarez. Alvarez throws a body punch but Sis moves out of range. Sis swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Alvarez chopping away at his opponent's legs.
A nice leg kick lands there from Alvarez. Alvarez lands a jab-cross combination. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Sis.
Alvarez throws a body kick, spinning off balance so Sis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Alvarez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sis manages to get himself to full guard.
Alvarez wants to pass the guard but Sis is keeping the position. Sis is pulling down on Alvarez's head to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sis throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Alvarez escapes and throws Sis's legs to the side, diving into side control! Alvarez scoring with punches from side control. Alvarez scoring with punches and elbows. Sis managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Alvarez.
Sis is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Alvarez landing a few strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sis can't do much from the bottom here. Sis is looking for a sweep. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sis can't do much from the bottom here. Alvarez throwing strikes but Sis manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Carlo Alvarez has got the better of the ground game so far. Sis working away. Sis is looking to take a break and control but Alvarez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Alvarez wants to control but Sis postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sis throwing shots but missing, from side control. Alvarez struggling a bit here. Sis grinds an elbow into Alvarez's temple. Alvarez managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Sis.
Sis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alvarez keeps working. Sis cracks Alvarez with an elbow. That is naaassty. Sis looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Sis working the head and body with strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alvarez is looking for a sweep. Sis lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Alvarez down.
The ground and pound from Sis seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Alvarez defending against the ground and pound. You can see the frustration on Alvarez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Sis trying to control the action but Alvarez is working from the bottom. Sis throwing shots but missing, from side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Nem Sis will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Alvarez lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Sis avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A counter left hand to the body from Sis misses its target. Sis tries a head kick but it misses.
Sis throws a body shot but no joy. Carlo Alvarez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sis throws a nice head kick!
Sis lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Alvarez gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Sis in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Sis throwing strikes from guard but Alvarez blocks nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alvarez tries to land a sweep but no joy. Sis throws an elbow that misses. Alvarez uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sis's guard. Nice move by Alvarez! Sis working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Alvarez.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvarez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Alvarez throws a big elbow that misses. Alvarez distracts Sis with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Alvarez won't allow Sis to sweep him here. Alvarez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Alvarez wants to control from the top but Sis keeps moving. Sis is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Alvarez tries to free his leg and advance position but Sis is retaining full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Alvarez landing some decent shots from guard. Alvarez throwing strikes but missing. Alvarez throws a big elbow that misses. Alvarez scoring with punches to the head and body. Sis trying to keep a closed guard but Alvarez is proving a slippery customer.
Sis pulls Alvarez in close to prevent any damage.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Carlo Alvarez seems to be getting the better of the standup.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sis on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Sis avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Alvarez thows a leg kick but Sis checks it and Sis counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Alvarez trying to control here.
Sis is trying to control. Alvarez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Alvarez holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Sis missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Sis wants to take a breather but Alvarez is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alvarez gets back to full guard.
Sis stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Alvarez throws up his legs and catches Sis in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Sis tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Alvarez! That came out of nowhere!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Carlo Alvarez! Carlo Alvarez decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
