Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnie Cash! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Cherry! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cherry lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Cash misses with a few strikes there.
Cherry scores with a leg kick.
Cherry throws a hook but Cash avoids it easily. Cherry shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cherry showed some decent athleticism there. Cash wants to get back to his feet. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cherry in particular looking to stall. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cash on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Cherry passes to full mount! Cherry tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Cherry's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Cash really wants to buck Cherry off and get back to his feet. Cherry with shots to the head and body - Cash looks very uncomfortable down there. Cherry takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Cash trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Cherry looking to control and managing it successfully. Cherry has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Cherry is landing with some decent strikes but Cash is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Cherry sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. That's four minutes gone in the round. Cash is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Cherry locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Cash is forced to tap!
