Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anton Mendez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Heath Parish!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parish fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mendez is looking to counter punch.
Mendez bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Anton Mendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mendez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Parish's waist but Parish gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mendez off to one side.
Parish fails with the takedown.
Parish is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Parish fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Anton Mendez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Heath Parish.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Parish dives in and grabs Mendez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mendez pushes down on Parish's head and hops out.

Parish has his foot on Mendez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mendez works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Mendez misses with a knee to the head.
Parish is trying to break free.

Mendez manages to pull guard.
Mendez wants to stand up but Parish is controlling him.
Mendez seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Mendez scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Mendez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Parish was covering up waiting for the punch and Mendez finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Parish looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Parish wants to control the position but Mendez says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Parish trying to hold on to Mendez's head to control him but Mendez postures up.
Mendez winds up and cracks Parish with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mendez lands a nice short elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Mendez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Parish tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mendez swivels and escapes.

Parish is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mendez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Parish misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Anton Mendez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mendez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Parish is fending him off so far but Mendez persists. Nope, Parish circles away and we're back to standing.
A little jabbing left from Parish on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Heath Parish is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Parish manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Mendez keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Parish blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Mendez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Mendez.

Mendez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mendez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Parish defends it nicely.
Parish throws a leg kick that misses.

Parish looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Mendez!

Mendez is pushing Parish's head away, looking to escape. Parish manages to hold on to the position though.
Mendez wants to control but Parish postures up.
Parish tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Parish looks up at the clock and then as Mendez takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Parish smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Mendez trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mendez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Parish sprawls well initially but Mendez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Parish has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Mendez is on him like a limpet, forcing Parish back against the cage.
A right hook to the body lands for Parish.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Parish gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Mendez has his hands clasped together around Parish's back. He's all about the action.

Heath Parish comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Parish has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
