Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rashad Ruiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Moncan Posterizer! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice cross by Posterizer. Posterizer looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Ruiz pushes Posterizer up against the cage in a clinch. Ruiz ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ruiz no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Ruiz pulls Posterizer in close to his closed guard and prevents Posterizer from doing any damage or advancing position. Posterizer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ruiz swivels though and keeps the full guard. Posterizer trying to control the position from guard on top but Ruiz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Posterizer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ruiz is keeping the position for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Posterizer stopping the sweep attempt from Ruiz. Posterizer wants to control from the top but Ruiz keeps moving. Ruiz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruiz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Posterizer manages to get himself to full guard.
Ruiz cracks Posterizer with a solid left hand. Ruiz trying to control but Posterizer is working from the bottom. Posterizer looking for a sweep. Not yet Posterizer, not yet. Ruiz scoring with punches to the head and body. Ruiz wants to control from the top but Posterizer keeps moving. Ruiz landing some decent shots from guard. Ruiz trying to control the position from guard on top but Posterizer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Posterizer wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Posterizer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ruiz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Ruiz controlling from the top position. Ruiz passes Posterizer's left leg - he's now in half guard. Ruiz trying to control from half guard but Posterizer is working away. Ruiz maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Posterizer could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Ruiz has cracked it and Posterizer is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Ruiz!
