Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jared Mathis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Madi Sunda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jared Mathis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Madi Sunda! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Taro Takaoka and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A left and a right from Sunda both land. Nice combination.
It looks like Jared Mathis has been cut. Sunda clinches with his opponent.
Mathis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sunda walks away with a smile on his face. Mathis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Sunda tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Mathis shoots in for a double leg but Sunda sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Sunda decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Mathis pushes Sunda off but Sunda dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mathis throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sunda misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Mathis prevents Sunda from improving position. Mathis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mathis is looking to regain half guard here but Sunda keeps moving and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sunda trying to control the action but Mathis is working from the bottom. Sunda misses with the ground and pound. Mathis is looking to reverse the position. Sunda lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Mathis down.
Mathis tries to improve position but can't. Sunda tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sunda has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Sunda postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The strikes coming from Sunda are missing the target in this wave of attacks. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sunda is looking to take a break and control but Mathis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Sunda is trying to get an arm triangle but Mathis is defending well. That's three minutes gone in the round. Mathis has one of Sunda's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sunda throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mathis tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sunda is in Mathis's guard. Mathis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sunda controls the pace. Mathis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sunda gets back to full guard.
Mathis keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sunda's head. Sunda controls Mathis momentarily but Mathis frees himself. Sunda pulls Mathis in close to his closed guard and prevents Mathis from doing any damage or advancing position. Mathis is working Sunda over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mathis landing with the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Madi Sunda dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jared Mathis's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Sunda fails with an attempt to clinch.
A head kick misses from Sunda. Sunda tries to clinch up and Mathis counters with a stiff right hand. Sunda throws a leg kick and Mathis counters with a takedown into side control. Sunda wants to get back to his feet but Mathis is dominant here and he's now got Sunda's back! The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Mathis's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Sunda felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Sunda covers up after that shot from Mathis.

Sunda rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Sunda manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Sunda controls Mathis momentarily but Mathis frees himself. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mathis's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Mathis throws a strike but Sunda rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Mathis working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sunda. Mathis is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Madi Sunda has got the better of the ground game so far. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mathis is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Mathis postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Sunda is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Sunda pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Sunda lets loose with a powerful body kick. Mathis will feel that in the morning. Sunda drives through and clinches with Mathis against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sunda works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Mathis wants to sweep here but Sunda controlling him for the moment. Mathis has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Sunda has passed into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sunda misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Sunda is looking to take a break and control but Mathis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Sunda tries to move to mount but Mathis blocks the move with his legs. Sunda has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Sunda closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sunda is looking for a kimura here.
Sunda is thwarting Mathis's attempts to control the position. Mathis gets full guard. Mathis throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Sunda preventing the sweep. Mathis trying to keep a closed guard but Sunda is proving a slippery customer.

Madi Sunda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Jared Mathis's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Sunda shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Mathis kicks off Sunda and gets to his feet. Sunda tries to work over Mathis's front leg with a kick but Mathis checks it. Mathis lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Sunda closes the distance and pushes Mathis back into the cage. Sunda is pressed up against the cage. Mathis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sunda down to the mat. Sunda avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Mathis is looking to clinch but Sunda is avoiding it.
Mathis looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sunda is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mathis distracts Sunda with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Mathis throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Sunda looking for a sweep. Not yet Sunda, not yet. Mathis with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Sunda looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mathis is one step ahead there. Mathis lands a couple of elbows. Sunda is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Sunda controls Mathis momentarily but Mathis frees himself. Mathis with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Sunda avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Sunda is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Mathis is looking to stand up but Sunda won't let him. Mathis trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Sunda is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mathis tries to clinch but Sunda moves out of range. Mathis tries to keep at a distance but Sunda has taken the fight into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sunda manages to break the clinch.
Sunda throws a head kick that misses and Mathis counters with a takedown into side control. Mathis is looking to take a break and control but Sunda is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mathis scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Sunda to see if he's OK. Mathis landing a few strikes. Sunda throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land. Mathis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sunda, who protects the arm well. Sunda is trying to improve his position.

Sunda is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Mathis is controlling him well. Sunda tries to get back to half guard but can't. Sunda takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Sloppy strikes there by Mathis. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mathis working the ground and pound. Sunda is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Mathis is controlling him well. Jared Mathis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Madi Sunda is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Mathis goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Sunda has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mathis but great work by Sunda.
