Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sub Norris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danjie Mercado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mercado has chosen Pagsubok as his entrance music. Sub Norris has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
32 - 28 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sub Norris! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Danjie Mercado! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mercado closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Norris did well to prevent Mercado getting side control. Mercado looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Norris regains full guard. Nicely done. Norris escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mercado gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Norris is trying to control the position but Mercado postures up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Norris working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mercado doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mercado manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Mercado working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Norris will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Mercado scoring with some ground and pound. Mercado connects with a couple of short punches. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mercado sitting in guard, not really doing much. Mercado keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Norris's head. Norris has his foot on Mercado's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mercado works his way back into a safe position though. Norris looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's one minute gone in the round. Norris working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mercado doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Norris is tightening it up a little... Mercado has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Mercado reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Mercado taps out! Nice BJJ there by Norris!
