Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Billy McGeady! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tyran Gaia! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGeady stuffs the takedown. It looked like McGeady was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Gaia. Gaia tried to score with a low kick but McGeady checks it. Good standup being displayed there by McGeady as he connects with a hook. Gaia fails to land with a series of punches.
McGeady keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Gaia drops his hands momentarily and McGeady takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Gaia throws a combination that misses enabling McGeady to counter with a crisp jab. McGeady tries to clinch but Gaia moves out of range. Gaia misses with a double jab
enabling McGeady to counter with a crisp jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gaia has managed to clinch.
Gaia keeps the fight in the clinch, despite McGeady's efforts to push away. McGeady tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gaia smiles and moves away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gaia gets a takedown into half guard. Gaia throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing McGeady to regain full guard. McGeady looking to control.
Gaia stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! McGeady throws up his legs and catches Gaia in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Gaia tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by McGeady! That came out of nowhere!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Billy McGeady!
