The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oppelaar takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Barkley darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Barkley takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Barkley fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Barkley is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Oppelaar shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Barkley is rocked! Oppelaar not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Barkley is still in real trouble! Can Oppelaar finish him? Oppelaar working over Barkley with some ground and pound. Barkley looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. We've been hearing good reports from Oppelaar's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Oppelaar seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Oppelaar missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Barkley is not content to let Oppelaar control the position. Oppelaar passes to full mount! Barkley is trying desperately to improve position. Oppelaar loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Barkley scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Oppelaar land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Oppelaar stands and salutes the crowd.
