Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Psycho Smudge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eugene Peavris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Psycho Smudge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eugene Peavris!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smudge throws out a loose jab but Peavris uses good head movement to avoid it.
Peavris pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
No joy there for Peavris, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Peavris takes the fight into the clinch.
Smudge avoiding damage as Peavris throws knees to the body.
Peavris tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Smudge throws a head punch that misses.
Smudge looking to stall.
Smudge tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smudge trying to stall but Peavris improves his position.

Peavris pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Peavris ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smudge moves away.
A telegraphed right hand from Peavris misses the target.

Peavris darts in and clinches Smudge up against the cage.
Peavris just leaning against Smudge, taking a breather.
Peavris slowing the pace effectively.
The crowd are getting on Peavris's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
Peavris has Smudge pressed against the cage, preventing Smudge from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Smudge looking to stall.

Peavris gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Peavris with a flurry of punches that miss.
Smudge working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Peavris.
Smudge manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Peavris manages to get himself to full guard.

Peavris is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Peavris looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Smudge seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Smudge is trying to control. Peavris wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Smudge moves nicely into side control.
Smudge wants to lay and pray for a moment but Peavris keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Peavris struggling a bit here.

Peavris throws a body punch but Smudge moves out of range.
Smudge attempts a counter takedown but Peavris avoids it well and moves away.

Smudge half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Peavris takes a swing at Smudge's ribcage but misses.
Smudge feinted with a counter takedown.
Smudge closes this distance looking for a takedown but Peavris circles away.

and Peavris counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Peavris.
Peavris blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Peavris's corner is telling him to maintain position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peavris stays in close to Smudge's body and controls the position.
Peavris must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Peavris has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Peavris fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Smudge, pushing him back against the cage.
Come on Peavris - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Peavris gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Smudge is trying to maintain the position but Peavris is very close to passing his half guard.

Smudge is trying to get back to full guard.
Peavris with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Peavris scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Peavris is looking to advance position but Smudge won't allow it.
Smudge is trying to control but can't.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Peavris's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

and Smudge counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smudge looking to sit in guard and control but Peavris gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Peavris throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smudge works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Smudge looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Peavris throws a big elbow that misses.

Eugene Peavris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Smudge throws the left hand but Peavris avoids the punch easily.
Peavris tries to counter with a clinch but Smudge shakes him off and moves away.
Peavris looks to land a left hand but Smudge moved out of range nicely.
Smudge misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Peavris shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Peavris was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Smudge is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Smudge is working hard here to advance position.
Peavris content to control rather than advance.
Peavris looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Peavris tries to stand and escape but Smudge is controlling the position.
Peavris looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Eugene Peavris is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Peavris gets the takedown into side control.
Smudge seems a little lost for a moment, as Peavris dominates the positioning.
You can see the frustration on Smudge's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Peavris tries to advance to mount but Smudge denies him.
Peavris content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Peavris works to advance to full mount. Smudge defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Psycho Smudge has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Let's hope that Peavris has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well Peavris has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
