Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sidney Petersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heath Parish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Heath Parish has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sidney Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Heath Parish!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Parish scores with a takedown into Petersen's guard.
Parish is fighting to break Petersen's control of his arms but Petersen is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Petersen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Petersen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Parish is one step ahead there.

Petersen keeping moving, preventing Parish from controlling successfully.
Parish advances to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Parish throwing shots but Petersen is blocking nicely.

Parish is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Petersen still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Petersen has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Petersen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Petersen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Parish knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Petersen is putting a hurting on Parish here, landing some big shots from side control.

Petersen decides to stand back up. Petersen steps back and let's Parish get back to his feet.

Petersen gets a clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Petersen fails to land.
Parish blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Parish goes for a takedown in the clinch but Petersen prevents it.

Petersen pulls Parish into guard.

Parish in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Parish working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Petersen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Parish is controlling him.

Parish drops back, looking for a kneebar! Petersen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Petersen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Petersen!

Parish told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Petersen decides to stand up, so the ref orders Parish to his feet.

Petersen darts in and clinches Parish up against the cage.
Petersen makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Parish tries for a takedown. No joy.

Petersen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Petersen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Parish wants to control but Petersen is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Parish is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Petersen gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Parish has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Petersen after a bit of a struggle.
Petersen looking to throw knees to the head but Parish is blocking nicely.

Petersen is pressed up against the cage. Parish has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Petersen down to the mat. Petersen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Sidney Petersen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Heath Parish.

Petersen drives through and clinches with Parish against the cage.

Petersen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Parish is breathing heavily.

Petersen closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Parish quickly recovers to half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Petersen connects with a nice short shot to Parish's temple.

Petersen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Petersen decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Petersen shoots for a double leg takedown but Parish sprawls well. He's pushed Petersen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Petersen gets a clinch.

Petersen jumps guard and drags Parish to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Petersen has control of Parish's left arm, preventing Parish from doing any damage.
Petersen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Petersen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Parish can do to turn this around?
Petersen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Parish pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Petersen is keeping the position for now.
Petersen is controlling Parish's posture.
Petersen keeping moving, preventing Parish from controlling successfully.
Petersen pulls Parish in close to his closed guard and prevents Parish from doing any damage or advancing position.

Parish throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Petersen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Parish gets tackled into the cage by Petersen. Petersen maintains the clinch.
Parish is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Parish takes a shot to the head.

Petersen pulls guard successfully.
Petersen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Parish got a little sloppy there for a moment and Petersen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Parish has managed to get both his arms back between Petersen's legs - danger averted.
Parish prevents Petersen from getting back to his feet.

Parish throws a strike but Petersen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Parish had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Petersen defends it easily.
Petersen won't allow Parish to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Petersen stands up from Parish's guard - Petersen perhaps looking for a knockout.

Petersen drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Parish wants to get back to his feet but Petersen is dominant here and he's now got Parish's back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Petersen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Petersen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Parish explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Parish closes the distance and clinches up with Petersen, looking for a takedown. Parish pushes Petersen against the cage but Petersen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Petersen went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Parish tries for a takedown but Petersen circles away easily
and Petersen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Parish takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Petersen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Petersen creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Petersen is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Sidney Petersen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Heath Parish.

Petersen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Petersen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Petersen is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Parish's half guard.

Petersen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Petersen has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Parish is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Petersen yanks on the arm and Parish is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Petersen.
