PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Danial House (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mads Holst Simonsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Danial House!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mads Holst Simonsen!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
House fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Simonsen throws a head kick but House moves out of range.
Simonsen throws a nice looking combination but House bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
House feinted there with a counter leg kick.

House closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - House lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
House postures up in Simonsen's guard and throws a big left but Simonsen blocks it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Simonsen is working an open guard so House takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
House really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

House has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

House is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Simonsen still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Simonsen has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
House is not content to let Simonsen control the position.

Simonsen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with House. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

House bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Simonsen's guard.


House postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Simonsen is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of House, into his guard.

Simonsen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Simonsen has gone for a leg lock! House slips out almost immediately though and dives into Simonsen's guard.

Simonsen throws a series of punches but House avoids them all with ease.

House manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Simonsen keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

House drops back, looking for a kneebar! Simonsen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Simonsen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Simonsen!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as House accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Danial House overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Danial House.
I think House has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
