Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, The Steel Penn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yuri Sorokov! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sorokov takes a swing at Steel Penn's ribcage but misses. Steel Penn with a nice cross. Sorokov lunges at Steel Penn with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Steel Penn's hand. Steel Penn moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Sorokov uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Steel Penn has time to react. Sorokov misses the shot to the body. Sorokov moves into range and clinches up with Steel Penn. Sorokov goes for a takedown attempt but Steel Penn pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jab by Sorokov. Sorokov fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Steel Penn misses with a jab to the body
enabling Sorokov to counter with a crisp jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steel Penn takes a swing at Sorokov's ribcage but misses. Sorokov misses with a straight right. Steel Penn drops down looking for a counter takedown but Sorokov sprawls and moves away. Steel Penn with a poor takedown and Sorokov connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Sorokov has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Sorokov fails to land with a series of punches.
Steel Penn half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Sorokov throws out a loose jab but Steel Penn uses good head movement to avoid it. Sorokov fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Steel Penn avoids it really well and circles away. Steel Penn lands a right hook to the body.
Steel Penn fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sorokov to the ground. Steel Penn is now in Sorokov's guard. Sorokov trying to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steel Penn tries to free his leg and advance position but Sorokov is retaining full guard. Sorokov looking for a sweep. Not yet Sorokov, not yet. Steel Penn pushes down on Sorokov's leg and manages to get into half guard. Steel Penn works his way into full mount! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sorokov is controlling an arm, preventing Steel Penn from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Steel Penn is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sorokov is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Sorokov looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! A lull in the action here.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Steel Penn looking for the RNC. Sorokov is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Steel Penn gets his way!

Steel Penn has one arm under Sorokov 's neck. Sorokov is controlling the other arm well. He's just looking to survive right now. Steel Penn manages to get his arm free though and Sorokov is in a world of trouble! Steel Penn sinks in the hooks and squeezes! Sorokov turns purple and then goes limp. The referee steps in to end the bout!
