Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sean Juan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 10 - 1, fighting out of New York, Bach Schtrappe! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Alyssa Summers and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Juan stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Nice jab there from Juan. Schtrappe feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Juans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Juan ducks under a wild hook from Schtrappe. Juan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Schtrappe swivels and escapes. Juan closes the distance and clinches up with Schtrappe, looking for a takedown. Juan pushes Schtrappe against the cage but Schtrappe circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Juan tries for a takedown but Schtrappe circles away easily and Schtrappe connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Juan. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Juan drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. You can see the frustration on Schtrappe's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Juan tries to move into full mount but can't pass Schtrappe's legs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Juan working away. Juan tries for a kimura but Schtrappe is defending well. Schtrappe prevents Juan from improving position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Juan goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Schtrappe rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Juan's guard! Nice work there by Schtrappe! Schtrappe trying to control but Juan is working from the bottom. Schtrappe is sitting in close to Juan's body. Juan has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Schtrappe is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Schtrappe is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Juan.
