PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sol Dier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleks Breznhev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Breznhev has chosen Death Grips - On GP as his entrance music. The key to victory for Sol Dier has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sol Dier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aleks Breznhev!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Shimada and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dier misses with a hook.

Breznhev dives in and scores a takedown into Dier's guard.

Let's hope that Breznhev has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Dier looks to throw the jab but Breznhev is out of range.

Dier leaves Breznhev with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Dier works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Dier misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Breznhev.

Dier gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Dier knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Breznhev on the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dier is on top in guard.

Dier stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Breznhev swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Breznhev has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Breznhev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dier's guard.

Breznhev is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Breznhev has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Forest Hill Gym . Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Sol Dier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Breznhev shoots in but Dier avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
