Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anton Mendez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Elazar Pantera! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendez looking to score a takedown here. Pantera is defending well but Mendez drives through and ends up in Pantera's guard. Pantera looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Mendez is in close to Pantera's body, working some short punches and elbows. Mendez postures up in Pantera's guard and throws a big left but Pantera blocks it. Mendez working some strikes from top position. Pantera preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Mendez postures up in Pantera's guard and throws a big left but Pantera blocks it. Pantera wants to stand up but Mendez is controlling him. Pantera looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendez gets to his feet. Pantera looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! A swing and a miss from Mendez.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez slaps away a takedown attempt from Pantera, before circling back to the center of the mat. Pantera is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mendez sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Pantera tries to move into range but Mendez moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Mendez closes the distance and clinches. Pantera goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mendez prevents it.
Anton Mendez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Elazar Pantera. Mendez breaks the clinch.
Mendez shoots in looking for a takedown. Pantera tries to sprawl out of it but Mendez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pantera manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Mendez sets himself, and Pantera steps forward looking for the clinch! Mendez avoids it this time. Mendez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mendez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendez is chipping away with strikes.
Mendez in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mendez working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Mendez connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Pantera some visible discomfort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mendez cracks Pantera with a big right hand but Pantera just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Mendez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Mendez in side control lands a decent elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pantera has escaped the position, nice work there. Pantera managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Mendez.
Mendez landing strikes. Mendez tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Pantera wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Mendez has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Horrible takedown attempt by Mendez or perhaps it was just good defense by Pantera, which made it look bad. Mendez cracks Pantera with an open hand slap. Mendez tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pantera defends well and Mendez ends up having to push Pantera into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Pantera tries for a takedown but Mendez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Pantera uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mendez. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mendez scores with a jab. Pantera acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Pantera misses with a takedown attempt - Mendez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Anton Mendez dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Mendez lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Mendez darts in looking for a takedown but Pantera gets double underhooks and turns Mendez into the cage. Mendez forces Pantera back against the cage and clinches. Mendez stops a takedown attempt from Pantera.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pantera takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pantera's guard. Pantera wants to stand but Mendez is controlling the position. Mendez gets to his feet - Pantera follows without any prompting. Mendez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mendez working the ground and pound but Pantera is defending the strikes. Pantera takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendez working the head and body with strikes.
Pantera is rocked! Mendez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pantera can do to turn this around? Mendez has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Horrible takedown attempt by Mendez or perhaps it was just good defense by Pantera, which made it look bad. Pantera misses with a takedown attempt - Mendez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mendez shoots in looking for a takedown but Pantera manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mendez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Mendez scores with a takedown into Pantera's guard. Pantera wants to get back to his feet but Mendez passes into half guard.
Pantera is still in real trouble! Can Mendez finish him?

Mendez decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Mendez gets a clinch. Mendez lands a good knee to the midsection. Pantera won't want to take too many of those. Mendez landing knees to the head.
Mendez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mendez shoots in for a takedown. Oh, that's a huge slam! Pantera is on queer street and Mendez is pounding down on him with a barage of strikes. The ref is forced to step in and stop the fight. Great finish!
