The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Winston changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Whitaker looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Whitaker tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Winston wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Whitaker is trying to control Winston's posture but Winston avoids it.
Winston lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Winston tries for a kimura but Whitaker is defending well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Winston has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Winston is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Whitaker is trying to escape and Winston transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Whitaker is forced to tap! Nice work there by Winston! Very nice indeed!
