Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hundo Varga! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacob Demon! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Varga avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Varga changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Demon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Varga decides to stand back up. Varga steps back and let's Demon get back to his feet. Demon slips a jab and a cross from Varga.
A nice side step and Demon releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. We've been hearing reports that Varga has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Demon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Varga swings away with a leg kick that misses. Demon checks a leg kick. Varga looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Demon keeping full guard, as Varga tries to pass. Varga gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Varga shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Demon is trying to defend but Varga finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Varga working Demon over with strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Varga has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Varga sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Demon regains half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Varga trying to control the pace. Varga is trying to work for a kimura but Demon is defending well.

Varga throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Demon sees it coming and avoids it easily. Demon misses with a wild combination.
Varga ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Demon looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Varga is fending him off so far but Demon persists. Nope, Varga circles away and we're back to standing. Demon slips under a jab from Varga. Demon looks like he wants to counter punch here. Varga slaps away a takedown attempt from Demon, before circling back to the center of the mat. Varga misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Demon.
Demon tries to counter with a clinch but Varga shakes him off and moves away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Demon scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Varga closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Varga will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Varga is putting a hurting on Demon here, landing some big shots from side control. Varga is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Demon has escaped the position, nice work there. Hundo Varga overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Varga wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Demon, who protects the arm well. Demon being controlled for a moment. Demon prevents Varga from improving position. Demon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Varga wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Varga happy to just control the position for now. Varga working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Varga thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Demon is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Varga is putting a hurting on Demon here, landing some big shots from side control. Varga is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Demon can do to turn this around? Varga controlling the position from side mount. Demon is trying to get back to half guard. Varga decides to stand up, so the ref orders Demon to his feet. Demon has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Demon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Varga circles away. Varga half committed to a counter leg kick. Hundo Varga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Demon. Demon slips a straight right by Varga. Varga throws a head kick but Demon moves out of range.
Varga takes a swing at Demon's ribcage but misses. Varga gets the takedown into side control. Demon throws Varga to one side and escapes! Demon is breathing heavily. Varga misses with a straight right. Demon tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Demon dives in and grabs Varga's left leg, looking for a takedown. Varga pushes down on Demon's head and hops out. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Varga throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Demon sees it coming and avoids it easily. A jab from Varga finds it's way through Demon's defenses. Demon shoots in for a takedown but Varga shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Demon gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Varga to score an easy takedown into full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hundo Varga dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Varga looks to throw the jab but Demon is out of range. Demon throws a big counter head kick but Varga avoids it with no problem. Demon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Varga moves away. Varga feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Demons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Demon dives in for a single leg takedown but Varga sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Varga just misses with a punch to the body.
A countering left hand to the body from Demon misses. Demon slips under a jab. Demon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Varga throws a lazy right hand but Demon sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Varga scores with a hook. Demon steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Varga. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A telegraphed right hand from Varga misses the target. Varga misses with a looping right. Demon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Demon takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Varga lands a nice leg kick that just misses Demon's sensitive parts.
That's one minute gone in the round. Demon clinches up against the cage. Demon trying to control the position but instead, Varga has worked for underhooks and has pushed Demon into the cage. Varga fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Varga has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Demon regains guard immediately. Varga advances position into side control! Varga is chipping away with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Varga controlling from side mount. Varga is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Demon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Varga is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Demon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Demon is trying to control Varga's posture but Varga avoids it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Varga goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Demon has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Varga but great work by Demon. Demon has control of an arm but Varga manages to advance to Demon's back! Demon defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Demon looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Demon is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Varga.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Varga has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Varga is persistently looking for the submission but Demon is defending it well.
Demon is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Jacob Demon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Hundo Varga is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Varga is persistently looking for the submission but Demon is defending it well.
And that's the end of the fight! Hundo Varga showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Varga, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
