Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Thor Pedersen!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pedersen misses the shot to the body.
David really is a fat lump.
David throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

It looked like David was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Pedersen throws a looping overhand right but David ducks down to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

David has Pedersen up against the cage in a clinch.
Pedersen lands a knee to the body.

Pedersen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Pedersen.

It looked like David was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Pedersen jabbing away but nothing is landing.
David appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Pedersen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
David thinks about countering with a body kick.

David forces Pedersen back against the cage and clinches.
David looks to throw an elbow but misses.

David escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pedersen misses with a head kick.
David appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Pedersen is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by David.
Pedersen doesn't manage to clinch there - David circles away.
David is looking for a counter combo.
Pedersen tries to clinch there but David circles away.
David went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Pedersen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but David moves away.

David keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Pedersen.
David throws a quick counter kick to the body but Pedersen avoids it.

David drives through and clinches with Pedersen against the cage.
David prevents Pedersen from breaking the clinch.
David is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Pedersen to keep the fight standing.

Pedersen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

David closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Pedersen's guard.
Pedersen wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and David manages to pass to side control.


David is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pedersen sees it coming and defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
David thows a huge punch but Pedersen dodges it nicely.

David decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Pedersen bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps David's head backwards.
Pedersen throws a head kick but David moves out of range.
It looked like David was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Pedersen looks to land a combination but David avoids it well.
Pedersen swings away with a body shot that misses
and David counters with a three punch combo that has Pedersen backing up. Pedersen nods at David to acknowledge the strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

David closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Pedersen tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Thor Pedersen will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


David keeps the fight on the outside.
David was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Pedersen misses with a two punch combination.
David swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
David checks a leg kick nicely.
David seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
A head kick misses from Pedersen.

David moves out of range of the body kick.

Pedersen drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
I wouldn't like to be where David is right now.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
David gets back to half guard.
David keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Pedersen is breathing heavily.

David's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
David is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pedersen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pedersen's back!
David keeps control of the position easily here as Pedersen tries to buck him off.

Pedersen is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
I would not like to be Pedersen right now.
David has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
David seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pedersen for as long as he can get away with.
David has the hooks in. Pedersen is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
David controlling the position well here. Pedersen rolled but David kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ian David will probably get the nod.

That's time! David's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



David drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

David stands up and waves to Pedersen to follow him.
Ian David is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
David is looking to clinch but Pedersen is avoiding it.

It looks like Ian David has been cut.
Pedersen tries to close the distance and clinch but David swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

David went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and David counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Pedersen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
David shoots in but no luck this time.

David shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pedersen sprawls well. Pedersen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. David gets slowly back to his feet.
David sets himself, and Pedersen steps forward looking for the clinch! David avoids it this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ian David. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pedersen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pedersen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
David throws a big counter combination but Pedersen scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

David shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pedersen napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Pedersen tries to escape but David is in control.
David moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Pedersen is trying to get back to half guard.

David stands up and beckons Pedersen to his feet.

Pedersen is looking to chop away at David's legs.
Pedersen throws a head kick that misses.
David lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Pedersen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from David.

Pedersen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
David is looking for a counter combo.
Thor Pedersen seems to be getting the better of the standup.

David shoots in for a double leg but Pedersen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Thor Pedersen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
David is struggling to control the position.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from David.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with David for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Thor Pedersen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Pedersen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
