Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes throws a left and a right that both miss
and Nunez counters with a body kick that stops Gomes in his tracks momentarily.
Nunez looks to land a body kick but Gomes moved away.
Gomes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A low kick from Nunez is predictable there
and Gomes counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Gomes moves nicely into side control.
Gomes is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nunez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nunez manages to work his way to half guard, despite Gomes's best efforts.
Gomes is working for a kimura but Nunez is defending it quite comfortably.
Gomes is nestled in close to Nunez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Well, if Gomes is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gomes is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Gomes wants to stand up but Nunez is controlling the position.
Gomes slows the pace down in half guard.
Gomes has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Nunez throws the kick towards the body but Gomes avoids it.
Nunez scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Nunez gets caught flat footed, as Gomes shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Nunez is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Gomes dives into side control.
Gomes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Nunez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Gomes wants to control but Nunez is keeping him busy.

Gomes shoots in looking for a takedown but Nunez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gomes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Nunez lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Nunez looks for a takedown but Gomes sprawls well.
It looked like Gomes was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Nunez.

Nunez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gomes.
Gomes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Gomes lands a couple of good shots and Nunez has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Gomes lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Gomes controlling the position well here. Nunez rolled but Gomes kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Nunez let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Gomes closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nunez circles away.
Gomes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Nunez but Nunez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
As Gomes backs off Nunez throws a huge counter combo but Gomes manages to avoid it all.

Nunez looks for a takedown but Gomes sprawls well.

Nunez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gomes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gomes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nunez shoots in for a double leg but Gomes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Gomes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Nunez passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Eli Gomes.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gomes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
