PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Reggie Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Miguel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Juan Miguel told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reggie Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Juan Miguel!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lewis closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Miguel to the mat! Miguel manages to get full guard.
Miguel is looking to stand back up but Lewis counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Miguel.
Lewis looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Miguel is trying to stand.
Miguel wants to stand back up but Lewis manages to pass into side control.

Lewis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lewis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lewis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Miguel keeps working.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Miguel is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Miguel is not content to let Lewis control the position.
Miguel stuck in half guard on the bottom here.
Miguel is trying to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Miguel tries to buck Lewis off but Lewis is having none of it.

Lewis has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Miguel throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Reggie Lewis has been cut.

Miguel lands a big head kick that sends Lewis tumbling to the mat! Miguel takes a step backwards and waves Lewis back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Lewis is rocked!
Miguel lands with a nice body kick.
Oh Lewis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Miguel moves into the clinch.

Miguel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Miguel closes the distance and clinches.
I was talking to Lewis's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Miguel manages to break the clinch.
Lewis seems to have got his legs back now.
Miguel scores with a kick to the midsection.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Miguel - that will leave a mark!
Juan Miguel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Miguel misses with a straight left.
It appears Lewis was looking to counter with a kick there.
Miguel lands a nice looking kick to the body. Lewis takes a step back to recover.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Miguel.

Miguel pushes Lewis up against the cage in a clinch.
Lewis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Miguel just stands there and leans against the cage.

Miguel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lewis misses with a takedown attempt - Miguel sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Miguel instigates a clinch.
Lewis misses with a punch to the body.
Lewis throws a punch but it's blocked by Miguel.
Lewis wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Miguel has him pressed against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Miguel misses with a knee to the head.

Miguel breaks the clinch.
Miguel misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Miguel tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Miguel clinches with his opponent.
Miguel throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Lewis takes an elbow to the temple.

Lewis breaks from the clinch.
Miguel stuffs the takedown attempt from Lewis. Lewis gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Reggie Lewis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lewis shoots in looking for a takedown but Miguel manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lewis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juan Miguel dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Reggie Lewis's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Lewis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Miguel! Lewis is out on his feet! Miguel rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Lewis is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Lewis is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Juan Miguel!
An out of breath and clearly excited Juan Miguel thanked King of Fists for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
