The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Den Berg rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Matthews moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Van Den Berg throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Van Den Berg swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Matthews seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Van Den Berg gets caught napping as Matthews dives in and scores a takedown. Van Den Berg manages to retain guard.
Matthews with a flurry of punches that miss.
Matthews throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Van Den Berg works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Matthews missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Van Den Berg is looking to stand up but Matthews isn't so interested in that idea.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Van Den Berg wants to sweep but no luck.

Matthews with a flurry of punches that miss.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Van Den Berg throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Matthews misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Van Den Berg leaves Matthews with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Van Den Berg thuds his right hand into Matthews's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Van Den Berg scores with a one two! Matthews had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

It looks like Allan Matthews has been cut.
Matthews tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Van Den Berg manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Van Den Berg bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Matthews's head.
Van Den Berg misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Van Den Berg slaps away a takedown attempt from Matthews, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Allan Matthews. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Van Den Berg pounces like a tiger and cracks Matthews with a vicious hook! Matthews is down but not out! Van Den Berg follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
