The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza rushes Sleed and presses him up against the cage.
Sleed stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Souza goes for a takedown attempt but Sleed pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Souza fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Nice uppercut there from Souza.
Souza tries to close the distance and clinch but Sleed swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Souza fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Sleed checks it well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sleed thows a leg kick but Souza checks it
and Souza counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Souza throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sleed stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Souza shoots in and bounces Sleed off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Sleed is looking to stand back up but Souza counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Sleed.
Souza wants to take a breather but Sleed is having none of it.
Sleed tries to get to full guard but Souza has control of the leg.

Souza has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Souza avoids the attempt from Sleed to control.
Souza is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Sleed has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Sleed!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Souza has his foot on Sleed's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sleed works his way back into a safe position though.
Souza is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sleed defends well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Souza cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Souza catches Sleed with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Sleed tries a low kick but Souza avoids it.
A punch lands to the side of Souza 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Souza has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Sleed tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Souza's elbow.
Sleed struggles to land a body shot inside as Souza controls his hands.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Sleed creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Souza goes for a takedown attempt but Sleed pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Souza wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Sleed throws a front kick aimed at Souza's knee but Souza avoids it well.

Souza has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Souza cracks Sleed with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Andre Souza seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Souza tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Sleed is able to avoid easily.

Souza tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Sleed defends well and Souza ends up having to push Sleed into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Souza lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Sleed throws a shot from downtown. Souza moves away and avoids it.
Sleed looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

I've got Souza winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
