Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Risto Jukkalainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Injun Merlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merlin has chosen Ladies and Gentlemen as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merlin moves in looking to clinch but Jukkalainen pushes him off.

Jukkalainen shoots in but no luck this time.
A head kick from Merlin lands but Jukkalainen takes it in his stride.
Merlin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Merlin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jukkalainen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Merlin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jukkalainen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Merlin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jukkalainen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jukkalainen had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Merlin is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jukkalainen Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Merlin's back instead.
Jukkalainen is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Merlin is defending well though. Jukkalainen let's go of the attempt for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Merlin wants to control from the top but Jukkalainen keeps moving.

Merlin wants to pass the guard but Jukkalainen is keeping the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Merlin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jukkalainen, pushing him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Merlin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Merlin shoots in and bounces Jukkalainen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
