Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carl Moon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Claudio Rodrigues (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rodrigues has chosen Weight of my Pride as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Carl Moon has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Moon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Claudio Rodrigues! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rodrigues is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Moon's half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Moon is looking for a sweep. Rodrigues is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Rodrigues wants to take a breather but Moon is having none of it. Moon is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Rodrigues wants to free his trapped foot but Moon is holding on for dear life with his legs. Moon is looking to escape. Moon is looking for a sweep. Rodrigues is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Rodrigues takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Moon wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round. Moon wants to get back to full guard. Moon is pressing down on Rodrigues's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Moon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Rodrigues wants to control from the top but Moon keeps moving. Moon is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Moon being controlled here, momentarily. Rodrigues wants to control from the top but Moon keeps moving. Rodrigues stands up from guard. Let's bang! Moon walks into a straight right hand from Rodrigues. Rodrigues tries to clinch but Moon is having none of it. Rodrigues shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Moon napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Moon seems a little lost for a moment, as Rodrigues dominates the positioning. Rodrigues wants to control but Moon is keeping him busy. The referee asks Rodrigues politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Rodrigues prefers to stall for the moment though. Rodrigues tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Moon pushes Rodrigues away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Rodrigues gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moon trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Moon is trying to control Rodrigues's posture but Rodrigues avoids it. Rodrigues has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Rodrigues misses with a takedown and Moon counters by moving into the clinch. Rodrigues can't get the takedown.
Rodrigues looks winded! Rodrigues decides to pull guard. Moon gets to his feet - Rodrigues follows without any prompting. Moon circles away from the clinch attempt and Moon counters with a nice body shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Moon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rodrigues is looking to clinch. Rodrigues clinches with his opponent.
Moon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Rodrigues shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Moon defends it nicely. Carl Moon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Claudio Rodrigues. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rodrigues shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Moon as he jumps to the side. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Moon moves into the clinch. Moon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Moon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Moon is looking to counter the offense by Rodrigues and move into the clinch. Rodrigues is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moon shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rodrigues as he jumps to the side. Rodrigues takes a swing at Moon's ribcage but misses. Rodrigues instigates a clinch. Rodrigues is trying to break free. Stalling in the clinch from Moon.

Rodrigues shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Claudio Rodrigues seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rodrigues throws the kick towards the body but Moon avoids it. Claudio Rodrigues is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Moon clinches. Moon turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Moon manages to end up in side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Moon is trying to get an arm triangle but Rodrigues is defending well. Moon decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rodrigues to his feet. Moon could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Moon slaps away a takedown attempt from Rodrigues, before circling back to the center of the mat. Moon swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rodrigues shoots in but Moon avoids the takedown attempt easily. Moon takes the fight into the clinch. A right hand to the body from Moon.
Moon unloads a knee to the mid-section. Rodrigues lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Moon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rodrigues tries to clinch up. Moon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rodrigues looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Moon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Moon is looking for a kimura. He might have it! Rodrigues throws a nice looking combination but Moon bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Rodrigues dives in and grabs Moon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Moon pushes down on Rodrigues's head and hops out. A slow jab from Rodrigues misses its intended target. Rodrigues gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Moon counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Rodrigues stuffs the takedown attempt from Moon. Moon gets slowly back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Moon shoots in and bounces Rodrigues off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Moon has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Rodrigues takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moon wants to get up but he can't break Rodrigues's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Rodrigues is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Moon wants to stand but Rodrigues is controlling his posture from full guard. Moon wants to stand and escape but instead Rodrigues has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Rodrigues wants to stand but Moon has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Moon is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Rodrigues stops Moon from standing up. Rodrigues stopping the sweep attempt from Moon. Moon wants to improve his position but instead Rodrigues has moved into half guard.
Moon wants to get back to his feet. Moon tries to roll over but Rodrigues keeps him under control. Rodrigues throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Rodrigues postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Moon to stand up. Rodrigues tries to close the distance and clinch up but Moon swats him away and circles back towards the center. Nice takedown defense from Rodrigues. No joy for Moon on that attempt. Rodrigues steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Moon.

Rodrigues gets tackled into the cage by Moon. Moon maintains the clinch. Rodrigues is pressed up against the cage. Moon has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rodrigues down to the mat. Rodrigues avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Rodrigues looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Moon is fending him off so far but Rodrigues persists. Nope, Moon circles away and we're back to standing. Moon appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Moon closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Moon tries for a kimura but Rodrigues is defending well. Moon stands up and we're back to a striking position. Moon leaves Rodrigues with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. It appears Moon was looking to counter with a kick there. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rodrigues misses with a takedown and Moon counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Carl Moon. Well Moon has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
