Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Henery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Wrigley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jon Henery! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake Wrigley! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Henery swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Wrigley counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Henery manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wrigley manages to get himself to full guard.

He's managed to get a loose triangle. Henery doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Henery manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Wrigley keeping moving, preventing Henery from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wrigley working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Henery. Henery had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wrigley defends it easily. Wrigley is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Wrigley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Henery. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Wrigley takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Henery lands a jab to Wrigley's midsection. Henery scores with a decent looking hook.
It looks like Jake Wrigley has been cut. Henery fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Wrigley on the side of the head. Henery thuds a left hand into Wrigley's body. Wrigley feints and as Henery raises his hands in defense, Wrigley changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Wrigley is stalling in the full guard. Wrigley wants to pass the guard but Henery is keeping the position. Henery manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wrigley jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Henery walks away with a smile on his face. Wrigley gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Henery tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wrigley swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wrigley moves into the clinch successfully.
Henery tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Wrigley misses with an elbow over the top. Henery can't find room to land a body shot as Wrigley controls the action.

Henery lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Wrigley or not. Henery struggles to land a body shot inside as Wrigley controls his hands.
Henery lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Wrigley escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Henery works the jab nicely. Henery lands a nice shot to the body.

Henery fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Jake Wrigley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Henery's corner calls for a 1-2. Henery obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Henery jabs at Wrigley's body. Henery ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wrigley moves away. Henery is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wrigley can do to turn this around? Wrigley fails with a takedown attempt. Henery lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Jon Henery is winning the standup battle so far. A momentary lapse in concentration from Henery enables Wrigley to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Henery manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Wrigley tries to free his leg and advance position but Henery is retaining full guard. Henery scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Wrigley scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Henery explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! This has been an exciting period of action! Henery doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Henery on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Wrigley. Wrigley obviously looking to wear him down.
Wrigley tries to clinch but Henery is having none of it. Wrigley swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Wrigley closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Henery sneaks out the side door and pushes Wrigley away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Sloppy strikes from Henery. Those never looked like landing. Henery looks to score with a jab to the body but Wrigley is just out of range. Wrigley unleashes a big counter combination but Henery bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Wrigley has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Henery finds it's way round the side to connect with Wrigley's head. Henery looks to throw the jab but Wrigley is out of range. Wrigley looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Henery! Henery is looking for a sweep. Henery wants to get back to his feet. Henery is trying to control Wrigley's posture but Wrigley avoids it. Jon Henery overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Wrigley changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Henery looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Wrigley is looking to take a break and control but Henery is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Henery is trying to control Wrigley's posture but Wrigley avoids it. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wrigley wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Henery, who protects the arm well. Henery gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Wrigley is thwarting Henery's attempts to control the position. Wrigley tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Henery. Wrigley is thwarting Henery's attempts to control the position.

Wrigley drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Wrigley with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Wrigley postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Henery looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jake Wrigley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Wrigley stands up over Henery, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jon Henery. Well Henery has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
