PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rexy Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and PM Sunk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rexy Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, PM Sunk!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Kavanagh and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sunk tries to bum rush Hunter with a series of wild strikes but Hunter uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sunk fails to land with a series of punches.
Hunter drops down looking for a counter takedown but Sunk sprawls and moves away.
Sunk with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Sunk throws a body punch but Hunter moves out of range.

Sunk throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hunter was covering up waiting for the punch and Sunk finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Sunk trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sunk throwing strikes from guard but Hunter blocks nicely.
Hunter pulls Sunk in to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sunk wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.
Sunk looking to sit in guard and control but Hunter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Sunk trying to keep a closed guard but Hunter is proving a slippery customer.
Hunter looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Hunter's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sunk controls Hunter momentarily but Hunter frees himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Hunter showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sunk.
Sunk scores with a jab to the body.
Sunk lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Hunter takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Nice uppercut lands for Sunk. That snapped Hunter's head back.
Sunk bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Sunk swats away the attempt to clinch by Hunter.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sunk tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hunter was well out of range. Poor timing from Sunk.
Sunk thuds a left hand into Hunter's body.
Sunk thuds a left hand into Hunter's body.
Sunk jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sunk is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Sunk stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sunk jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Sunk lands with a cross.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hunter doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Sunk shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sunk was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hunter is trying to escape the position but Sunk is controlling the position.
Sunk trying to control the action but Hunter is working from the bottom.
Hunter managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Sunk.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sunk laying and praying for a moment but Hunter takes advantage and regains half guard.
Sunk seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hunter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hunter keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Hunter is staying active underneath Sunk, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Sunk might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hunter haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Sunk not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Sunk has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sunk scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Hunter is looking to clinch.
Hunter looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Hunter takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Sunk catches Hunter with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Sunk's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Sunk duly obliges.


It looks like Rexy Hunter has been cut.

Hunter gets caught flat footed, as Sunk shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hunter keeping moving, preventing Sunk from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hunter has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Sunk looking to sit in guard and control but Hunter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Sunk wants to get back to his feet but Hunter is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
PM Sunk has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hunter is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hunter has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Sunk is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hunter's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hunter walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

PM Sunk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Hunter walks into a straight right hand from Sunk.
Hunter drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Hunter takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Sunk uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Hunter has time to react.
Sunk lands a jab.
Hunter has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hunter there as he acknowledges the shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hunter closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sunk to the mat! Sunk manages to get full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hunter sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Sunk looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hunter controlling from the top position.
Sunk controls Hunter momentarily but Hunter frees himself.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hunter is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Sunk drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hunter is not content to let Sunk control the position.
Hunter tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sunk wants to control but Hunter is keeping him busy.

Sunk wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hunter, who protects the arm well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sunk tries to stand but Hunter is controlling his head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sunk fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
PM Sunk is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
PM Sunk seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sunk lands with a hook. Hunter tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Sunk scores with a sloppy right hand. Hunter should have avoided that one.
Rexy Hunter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sunk shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hunter eats them both and turns towards Sunk to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

And that's the end of the fight!
PM Sunk comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sunk has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
