PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Naya Shinoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doji Chiharu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shinoki kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is wadiako. Naya Shinoki has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Naya Shinoki !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Doji Chiharu!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chiharu throws a poor cross that misses

and Shinoki counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Chiharu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shinoki . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Chiharu looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shinoki is one step ahead there.
Chiharu has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at LOD: Ground Zero. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chiharu can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Shinoki controls the pace.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shinoki tries to free his leg and advance position but Chiharu is retaining full guard.

Shinoki slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Chiharu is controlling Shinoki 's posture.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Chiharu misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shinoki .
Chiharu doesn't manage to clinch there - Shinoki circles away.

Shinoki closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Chiharu's guard.
Shinoki is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chiharu can do anything to dispel that myth.

Shinoki is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Chiharu sees it coming and defends easily.

Chiharu controls Shinoki momentarily but Shinoki frees himself.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Shinoki lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Shinoki chips away with some ground and pound.

Shinoki drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Shinoki seems to have locked his on tight now - Chiharu screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Shinoki , as he picks up the win!
