PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnnie Curtis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cemal Pasa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cemal Pasa will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnnie Curtis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Cemal Pasa!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Phil Schofield and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pasa gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Pasa lands an elbow inside.


It looks like Johnnie Curtis has been cut.

Pasa pulls Curtis into guard.
Curtis is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Curtis stands up from Pasa's guard - Curtis perhaps looking for a knockout.
Pasa throws a sloppy head kick

so Curtis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Pasa uses the cage to get back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Curtis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pasa.
Curtis appears to be looking for a big counter.
Curtis could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Curtis rushes Pasa and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Curtis wants to break the clinch but can't.
Curtis is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pasa pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Pasa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Curtis throws a left and a right that both miss

and Pasa holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Pasa jumps guard.
Pasa looking to hit a scissor sweep but Curtis is one step ahead there.
Curtis trying to stand up but can't free himself from Pasa's guard.

Curtis has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pasa is proving hard to escape from.

Pasa working for submissions but it's allowed Curtis to get to half guard.

Pasa is trying to stand.

Curtis stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Pasa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Curtis pinned against the cage. Curtis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Pasa pushes Curtis up against the cage in a clinch.

Curtis letting Pasa take a breather here.
Curtis tries to pull guard but Pasa forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Pasa stalls.

Curtis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Curtis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Curtis manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Curtis tries to break the clinch but Pasa is controlling the position.
Pasa avoiding damage.

Curtis is fighting off a takedown attempt but Pasa is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Curtis to the mat. Curtis regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Curtis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pasa's guard.

Curtis stands and steps away. Pasa gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Curtis throws the kick towards the body but Pasa avoids it.
Pasa misses with a takedown attempt - Curtis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Pasa looks winded!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pasa clinches up against the cage.

Curtis drags the fight down to the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Curtis is on top in guard.

Curtis postures up in Pasa's guard and throws a big left but Pasa blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Cemal Pasa will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Johnnie Curtis's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Pasa shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Curtis defends it nicely.

Pasa instigates a clinch.
Curtis takes a knee to the side of the body.
A short right from Pasa on the inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pasa breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Pasa moves into the clinch.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pasa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Pasa rushes Curtis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Pasa is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Curtis gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Pasa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Pasa closes the distance and clinches.
Curtis looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Cemal Pasa seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Pasa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Pasa gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Pasa is pressed up against the cage. Curtis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pasa down to the mat. Pasa avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Curtis tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Pasa avoids it.

Pasa breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cemal Pasa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Curtis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pasa throws a series of punches but Curtis avoids them all with ease.

Pasa shoots in but no luck this time.
Johnnie Curtis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cemal Pasa.

Pasa closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pasa lands in his opponent's guard.
Pasa has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Pasa is breathing heavily.

Curtis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pasa is one step ahead there.

Pasa won't allow Curtis to get back to his feet.
Curtis striking off his back but it's not causing Pasa any problems.
Curtis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Curtis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pasa paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pasa throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pasa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Curtis tries to avoid it but Pasa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Curtis to the ground. Curtis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Curtis forces Pasa back against the cage and clinches.

Pasa lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Pasa stops Curtis from getting back to his feet.
Curtis makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Curtis.
Curtis is looking to sweep but instead, Pasa has passed into half guard.

Curtis pushes Pasa off and gets back to his feet.
Pasa shoots in and drives through. Curtis sprawls well.
Curtis seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cemal Pasa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Curtis looks for the body kick but Pasa saw that one coming.
Curtis is looking to clinch.

Pasa scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Curtis explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Curtis throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Curtis jumps guard but Pasa turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Curtis looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Pasa breaks the clinch.

Pasa clinches up with Curtis and pushes him back against the cage.

Pasa is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Curtis wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Pasa lands a right hand that snaps the head of Curtis backwards.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Pasa.

Pasa breaks the clinch.

Pasa darts in and clinches Curtis up against the cage.
Curtis is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Pasa to keep the fight standing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Pasa tries to land a knee to the head but Curtis blocks with his arms.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Pasa takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Curtis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnnie Curtis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A bit of stalling here from Pasa.

Pasa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Curtis throws a head kick that misses.
Pasa throws a head kick that misses.
As Pasa looks to move away, Curtis throws a big counter combo but Pasa just gets out of the way.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pasa.
Curtis is looking for a counter combo.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Pasa.

A nice inside leg kick there by Pasa. That's going to slow Curtis down.
Pasa swats away the attempt to clinch by Curtis.
Pasa throws a head kick that misses.
Pasa shoots for a double leg takedown but Curtis sprawls well. He's pushed Pasa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Curtis rushes Pasa and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Curtis tries to break the clinch but Pasa is controlling the position.
Pasa tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Curtis smiles and moves away.

Curtis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Curtis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The referee asks Curtis politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Curtis prefers to stall for the moment though.
Curtis cracks Pasa with a big right hand but Pasa just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Pasa is looking for a sweep.

Curtis stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Curtis closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Curtis lands in his opponent's guard.
Pasa is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Curtis dives into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cemal Pasa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Pasa winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
