Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joe Gatsby! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jasper Jones! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The crowd cheers as Jones lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gatsby doesn't seem phased though. Jones misses with an uppercut. Jones misses with a body shot.
Gatsby feinted with a counter takedown. Gatsby slips under a jab from Jones. Jones lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Jones looks to land a right hand but Gatsby moved out of range. Gatsby lands the left hand. Jones misses with a shot to the body and Gatsby counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gatsby. Jones manages to escape and get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jasper Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones misses with a telegraphed body shot
so Gatsby counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Jones trying to control the position.
Gatsby lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Gatsby content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Gatsby pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jones is keeping the position for now. Jones is trying to keep Gatsby in close.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gatsby missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Jones working a defensive guard here.
Jones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Jones trying to keep a closed guard but Gatsby is proving a slippery customer.
Gatsby wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Gatsby with a flurry of punches that miss. Gatsby throws a big right hand that misses. Gatsby controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Gatsby lands a couple of digs. Gatsby slips nicely into half guard. Gatsby is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gatsby working the head and body with strikes. Jones desperately trying to maintain half guard. Gatsby lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Gatsby content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Nice strikes from Gatsby there. Gatsby controlling the action here. Gatsby is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gatsby.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Jones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gatsby is working away from the top position though. Jones on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Jones is looking for a sweep. Gatsby is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Gatsby is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth. Jones moves into full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones is trying to keep Gatsby in close.
Gatsby keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jones's head. Gatsby trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom. Gatsby with a nice head shot there. Jones wants to sweep here but Gatsby controlling him for the moment. Gatsby looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gatsby's corner. There ya go! There ya go! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Gatsby dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Gatsby feints and as Jones raises his hands in defense, Gatsby changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gatsby accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Jones wants to stand but Gatsby is controlling the position. Gatsby won't allow Jones to sweep him here. Joe Gatsby overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gatsby throws a big elbow that misses. Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jones is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Gatsby passes Jones's left leg - he's now in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gatsby scores with a couple of nice shots. Gatsby drops an elbow to the side of Jones's head. Gatsby is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jones defends it well. Jones tries to roll over but Gatsby keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gatsby has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Jones defend it? Gatsby steps over the head and cranks it - Jones is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Gatsby!
