The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drago shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Drago was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Drago avoids the attempt from Paul to control. Paul regains half guard. Drago seems to be looking for submissions.
Drago not landing any meaningful shots this time. Paul has one foot on Drago's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Drago looks for a takedown but Paul sprawls well. Paul throws a shot from downtown. Drago moves away and avoids it. Paul throws a series of punches but Drago moves out of range. Nice uppercut there from Paul.
It looks like Vladamir Drago has been cut. Paul connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Paul throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Drago fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Paul, pushing him back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paul has had enough of the clinch but Drago keeps him there for the moment. Drago throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Paul blocks it with crossed arms. Paul tries to break the clinch but Drago is controlling the position. Paul has a couple of punches blocked by Drago.
Paul scores with a nice hook to the head. Paul pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Drago ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Paul lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Drago circles away quickly and effectively. Drago misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. A slow jab from Paul misses its intended target. Paul lands a big shot that drops Drago! Can he finish him?
Drago is rocked! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Paul passes Drago's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Oh Drago is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Paul performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Paul is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Paul controlling the action here. Drago seems to have got his legs back now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Paul passes the guard and advances to mount! Paul controlling from mount. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Drago is looking to improve his position but Paul isn't that keen on the idea. Paul controlling the position easily from mount. Paul trying to control but Drago is having none of it. Drago is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paul controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Paul's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Despite being in the dominant position, David Paul just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Paul throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Paul throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Paul takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Vladamir Drago's cut is getting worse. Paul throws a right and a left that both miss. Paul pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Paul fails to land with a series of punches.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Drago takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Drago moves out of range as Paul strikes. Drago tries for a takedown but Paul sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Paul dominated that round. The cut man is working on Vladamir Drago's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Drago will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Drago avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Paul throws an overhand right that drops Drago like a sack of potatoes! Paul dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
