Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tatsuo Shinamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shinamoto comes to the ring accompanied by Teardrop. Tatsuo Shinamoto is staring across the ring at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tatsuo Shinamoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ivan Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shinamoto tries to sprawl but Johnson drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Johnson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Johnson winds up and cracks Shinamoto with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Shinamoto wants to control but Johnson is keeping busy.
Shinamoto gets back to full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Shinamoto not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Shinamoto pulls Johnson in close to prevent any damage.

It looks like Tatsuo Shinamoto has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson wants to pass the guard but Shinamoto is keeping the position.
Shinamoto is adopting a defensive guard.
Shinamoto has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Shinamoto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johnson's guard.


Johnson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shinamoto can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Shinamoto got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johnson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shinamoto has managed to get both his arms back between Johnson's legs - danger averted.

Johnson has his foot on Shinamoto's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shinamoto works his way back into a safe position though.

Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shinamoto doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shinamoto manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Shinamoto manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Johnson manages to get himself to full guard.

Johnson is looking for a kimura but Shinamoto is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Johnson to get the leverage.

Johnson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Johnson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Shinamoto is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Johnson frees his head nicely. Oh but Shinamoto has switched to an armbar! Johnson is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
