Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Sergeant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Antonio Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Sergeant!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sergeant lands the left hand.
Diaz throws a lazy body kick

and Sergeant decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Diaz's guard.
Diaz on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Diaz tries to get out of the position.
Sergeant trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Sergeant is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Sergeant stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Diaz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sergeant is controlling him.

Sergeant drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Diaz defends it well.

A little jabbing left from Sergeant on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Sergeant shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Diaz as he avoids it easily.

Diaz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sergeant.
Diaz lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

and Sergeant takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Antonio Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Sergeant.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dan Sergeant seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sergeant ducks under a wild hook from Diaz.

and Diaz counters with a nice low kick that buckles Sergeant's knee momentarily.
Diaz fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Sergeant has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Sergeant darts in looking for a takedown but Diaz gets double underhooks and turns Sergeant into the cage.
Diaz keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Diaz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Diaz throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sergeant sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Sergeant displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Diaz throws out the jab.
Diaz throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Diaz lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Diaz throws out a loose jab but Sergeant uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Diaz makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Sergeant fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Diaz, pushing him back against the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Diaz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Diaz dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Sergeant closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Diaz is not content to let Sergeant control the position.
Diaz is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Diaz gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Sergeant takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Diaz wants to hold on but Sergeant pushes him away.
Sergeant tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Sergeant cracks Diaz with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Diaz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sergeant on the ground.
Diaz tries to lock up and control but Sergeant gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Diaz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sergeant can do to turn this around?

Sergeant is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Diaz has managed to escape the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Sergeant's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Diaz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Diaz wants it to stay on the feet.

Diaz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sergeant circles away quickly and effectively.
Sergeant fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
It looked like Diaz was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Sergeant.
Sergeant tries to close the distance and clinch but Diaz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Sergeant, as that shot connected.

Dan Sergeant is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sergeant pulls out of a head kick attempt.
As Sergeant backs away, Diaz returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Sergeant takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Diaz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sergeant.
Diaz connects with a crisp jab.
Diaz throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
An inside leg kick lands from Diaz.
Diaz throws a series of punches but Sergeant avoids them all with ease.

Sergeant uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Diaz.
Diaz connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Sergeant closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Sergeant has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Diaz.
Sergeant is trying to drag Diaz to the mat but Diaz just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Diaz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown attempt by Sergeant or perhaps it was just good defense by Diaz, which made it look bad.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Diaz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
