Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ed Landry! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Coke Montana! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Kenichi Hosakawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Montana lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Landry throws a right and a left that both miss. A big right from Landry misses. Montana scoring well with a low kick there.
We've been told by Landry's head coaches at Cozad MMA Las Vegas that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Landry misses with a series of wild punches.
Montana throws the kick towards the body but Landry avoids it. Landry shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Montana eats them both and turns towards Landry to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Montana throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Landry moves forwards but Montana connects with a nice, crisp jab. Montana throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Landry throws a head kick but Montana moves out of range.
Landry checks a low kick from Montana. Landry looks to land a body kick but Montana moved away. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Landry throws the kick towards the body but Montana avoids it. It seemed like Montana was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Montana fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Montana lands with a kick to the ribs.

That's one minute gone in the round. Montana keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Montana tries a head kick but it misses.
Landry tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Montana throws a good cross that connects.
Montana keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Montana tries a quick counter leg kick but Landry is wise to it. Montana lands a head shot. Montana has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Nice defenses there by Landry. Montana listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Montana throws a front kick that sends Landry stumbling back into the ropes. Landry is breathing heavily. Montana scores with a jab to the jaw.
Landry is rocked! Montana takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Oh Landry is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Ed Landry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Landry throws a sloppy body shot
and Montana makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Landry seems to have got his legs back now. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Thud! ouch! good body kick from Montana - that will leave a mark!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Montana thumps Landry with a low kick. Landry gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Montana gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Coke Montana! A very excited looking Coke Montana made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
