Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Rockhold! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Artur Aleksanyan! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Glass and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rockhold moves into the clinch successfully.
Aleksanyan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rockhold throws a right and a left that both miss. Rockhold throws a head kick but Aleksanyan moves out of range.
Aleksanyan has Rockhold up against the ropes in a clinch.
Rockhold creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Aleksanyan's defenses. Aleksanyan tries to score a body lock takedown but Rockhold shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Rockhold lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the ropes. Aleksanyan has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rockhold avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Aleksanyan has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Rockhold after a bit of a struggle. Mike Rockhold has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Artur Aleksanyan. Rockhold escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A jab from Rockhold finds it's way through Aleksanyan's defenses. Mike Rockhold seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rockhold is looking to slow Aleksanyan down with leg kicks. A combination from Rockhold does no damage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Aleksanyan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rockhold is fending him off so far but Aleksanyan persists. Nope, Rockhold circles away and we're back to standing. Aleksanyan throws a sloppy head kick and Rockhold moves out of range easily.

Aleksanyan takes a body punch but keeps moving. Rockhold lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Aleksanyan on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Rockhold scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Aleksanyan doesn't seem bothered though. Rockhold misses with the combination.
Aleksanyan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rockhold lands a nice hook to Aleksanyan's body. Aleksanyan takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Aleksanyan shoots in and drives through. Rockhold sprawls well. Aleksanyan moves into the clinch successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aleksanyan on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Aleksanyan jumps guard but Rockhold stands there with Aleksanyan around his waist. Aleksanyan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Aleksanyan is looking to take this one to the mat. Rockhold unloads a knee to the mid-section. Rockhold jumps guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Aleksanyan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rockhold swivels though and keeps the full guard. Rockhold is looking to stand up but Aleksanyan isn't so interested in that idea. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Aleksanyan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Aleksanyan fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. A nice combination there by Rockhold.
Rockhold misses with a series of wild punches.
We've been informed that Aleksanyan has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Rockhold throws a leg kick and Aleksanyan counters with a takedown into side control. Rockhold is breathing heavily. Aleksanyan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rockhold keeps working. An elbow from Aleksanyan crashes against the mat.
Rockhold regains half guard, as Aleksanyan was trying to land strikes. Still in half guard, Aleksanyan seems content to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Rockhold dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Rockhold lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Aleksanyan at a distance.
Rockhold's corner calls for a 1-2. Rockhold obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Rockhold lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Aleksanyan circles away quickly and effectively. Nice takedown defense from Rockhold. No joy for Aleksanyan on that attempt. Rockhold misses with a wild body shot. Aleksanyan drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Rockhold defends it well. Aleksanyan fails with a takedown attempt. Rockhold is looking for a counter combo. Aleksanyan checks a leg kick. Aleksanyan feints the counter takedown. Rockhold throws a right hand that Aleksanyan ducks under and follows up with a left that Aleksanyan also avoids with ease. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rockhold clinches up against the ropes. Aleksanyan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Aleksanyan takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Rockhold looking to score a takedown here. Aleksanyan is defending well but Rockhold drives through and ends up in Aleksanyan's guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Aleksanyan throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Rockhold looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aleksanyan pushes a forearm under Rockhold's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Rockhold is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
