Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Bones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gichin Funakoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Bones! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gichin Funakoshi! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bones misses with a straight left. Funakoshi blocks a low kick nicely. Funakoshi scores with a hook. Bones throws a shot from downtown. Funakoshi moves away and avoids it. Bones jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Bones changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Nice straight punches there by Bones. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Bones. Bones dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Funakoshi throws a low kick but Bones avoids it. Funakoshi looks to land a body kick but Bones moved away. Funakoshi is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Funakoshi lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Funakoshi lands a nice leg kick that just misses Bones's sensitive parts. This has been an exciting period of action! Bones throws a push kick but Funakoshi slaps the foot to one side. Funakoshi uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bones.

It looks like Jon Bones has been cut. Funakoshi misses with a body kick. Bones has been working on his boxing with his coaches at London MMA Club in the buildup to the fight. Bones throws a jab but it's blocked by Funakoshi. Funakoshi throws out a counter right but Bones avoids it with no problem. A slow jab from Bones misses its intended target. Bones fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Funakoshi to the ground. Bones is now in Funakoshi's guard. Bones wants to control from the top but Funakoshi keeps moving. Funakoshi is adopting a defensive guard. Funakoshi keeping moving, preventing Bones from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bones is really struggling to control Funakoshi but he's trying to hold on to the position. Funakoshi manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Bones throws a body shot but no joy. Funakoshi feints a jab promting Bones to slip. Funakoshi then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Bones slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Funakoshi closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Bones misses with a body shot

That's three minutes gone in the round. Funakoshi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Bones half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Bones swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Funakoshi fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. A big left from Funakoshi misses. Bones feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Funakoshi's calf. Funakoshi throws a wild body kick that Bones sees coming a mile off. Bones scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Funakoshi doesn't seem bothered though. Bones misses with a hook. Funakoshi throws a head kick that half lands.

Funakoshi throws out a counter right but Bones avoids it with no problem. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bones looks to land a combination but Funakoshi avoids it well. Bones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Funakoshi as he jumps to the side. Bones turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Funakoshi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bones takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Bones wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Bones looks to score with a jab to the body but Funakoshi is just out of range. Funakoshi fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Bones checks it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jon Bones will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Jon Bones's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Funakoshi drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Bones swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bones avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Funakoshi throws a chopping leg kick but Bones manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Bones seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Bones takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Bones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Funakoshi but Funakoshi pushes him off and we're back to square one. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Funakoshi moves away. Bones lands with a right hand. Bones is looking to wear down Funakoshi with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. A cross from Funakoshi lands. Bones throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Bones throws a right and a left that Funakoshi avoids nicely. Bones shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Bones shoots in for a takedown but Funakoshi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Funakoshi throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bones tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Funakoshi is in Bones's guard. Funakoshi won't allow Bones to sweep him here. Bones trying to control the position here. The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Bones throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Funakoshi sees it coming and avoids it easily. Funakoshi looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Funakoshi is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Jon Bones's cut is getting worse. Bones closes the distance and clinches up with Funakoshi, looking for a takedown. Bones pushes Funakoshi against the cage but Funakoshi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Bones. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bones has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Funakoshi. Bones fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Funakoshi is out of range. Bones misses with a two punch combination.
Funakoshi looks to land a body kick but Bones moved away. Bones moves out of range as Funakoshi strikes. Bones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Funakoshi circles away quickly and effectively. Bones attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bones shoots for a double leg takedown but Funakoshi sprawls well. He's pushed Bones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Bones throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Bones throws out a loose jab but Funakoshi uses good head movement to avoid it. Bones throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Funakoshi fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Bones has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. A looping hook to the body misses from Bones. Funakoshi does a little dance to reset his feet. Funakoshi flicks out a counter leg kick but Bones steps away. Funakoshi gets off balance looking for a body kick letting Bones counter with a right hand. Funakoshi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bones. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Funakoshi with a jab. Bones throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Funakoshi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Funakoshi pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round. Funakoshi throws a quick inside leg kick. Bones rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Funakoshi moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Funakoshi flicks out a counter leg kick but Bones steps away. Bones comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Bones moves out of range as Funakoshi throws a body kick.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Funakoshi. Bones cracks Funakoshi with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Bones is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Bones throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Bones tries to land a leg kick but Funakoshi saw it coming and moves away.
Funakoshi is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Funakoshi checks a leg kick. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Funakoshi. Funakoshi moves away from the strike by Bones.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bones steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Funakoshi. That one must have hurt. Funakoshi scores with a jab to the head.

This has been an exciting period of action! Bones lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Funakoshi at a distance.
Funakoshi throws a low kick, looking for Bones's leg but Bones calmly moves out of range. Bones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Funakoshi controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Funakoshi trying to control from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Funakoshi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bones's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bones's back! Funakoshi is hanging on to Bones's back as he tries to escape.
Funakoshi is riding his opponent, not letting Bones buck him off. Funakoshi struggling to land strikes to the head as Bones covers up. Funakoshi thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. Funakoshi really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Bones. Funakoshi's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Funakoshi gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Funakoshi is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Bones is defending well for now. Funakoshi throws a knee to the head but misses.

Bones is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Bones tries to break the clinch but Funakoshi is controlling the position. That's one minute gone in the round. Funakoshi moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Funakoshi goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Good leg kick by Funakoshi there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Funakoshi misses with the body kick and Bones counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Bones shoots for a takedown but Funakoshi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Funakoshi scores with a head kick. Bones tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Bones is rocked! Funakoshi defending well as Bones loads up on a big left hand. Funakoshi replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Bones blocks it well. Oh Bones is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Funakoshi cracks Bones with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Bones tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Funakoshi pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Bones is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 4, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gichin Funakoshi! Gichin Funakoshi is the new light heavyweight champion! Gichin Funakoshi seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
