Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Lucas Wooten! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Stanley Khan! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Paul Tew and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wooten shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Khan napping and manages to drive through into side control! Khan is not content to let Wooten control the position. Wooten tries to stand but Khan is controlling his head. Wooten knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Khan on the ground. You can see the frustration on Khan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Khan gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Khan looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Wooten tries to stand but can't do so whilst Khan controls his leg. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Khan is trying to get back to full guard. Khan is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Wooten pulls his head out easily. Khan tries to get to full guard but Wooten has control of the leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wooten connects with a nice short shot to Khan's temple. Khan is looking to improve his position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Khan looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Khan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wooten's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wooten's back! Khan patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Khan is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Wooten knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Wooten for a finish. Khan working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Wooten is doing well to defend. Khan seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Wooten is forced to tap and this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Stanley Khan! Stanley Khan really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Versus logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
