Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marco Vermeer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Park Jeung! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vermeer lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Vermeer lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Vermeer throws a head kick but Jeung moves out of range.
Jeung throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vermeer's waist but Vermeer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jeung off to one side. Vermeer stuffs the takedown attempt from Jeung. Jeung gets slowly back to his feet. Jeung shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Vermeer counters with a slapping leg kick. Vermeer scores with a kick to the midsection. The fight stays on the outside here - Jeung looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Vermeer fires out a quick counter leg kick but Jeung just manages to avoid it.

Park Jeung is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A looping hook to the body misses from Jeung. Vermeer does a little dance to reset his feet. Vermeer throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Jeung stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Vermeer connects with a solid leg kick. Jeung moves into the clinch. Vermeer lands a knee to the head.

Jeung takes a knee to the side of the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vermeer lands a good knee to the midsection. Jeung won't want to take too many of those. Vermeer putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Jeung in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Jeung blinks but takes it well. Jeung has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Vermeer. Jeung stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Vermeer. Vermeer lands a head kick. Jeung smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Vermeer pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Vermeer delivers a nice body kick. Jeung closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Vermeer quickly recovers to half guard. Vermeer scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Jeung manages to mount him!
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Vermeer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Vermeer tries to get out of the position. This has been an exciting period of action! Vermeer is looking to get to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jeung looking for a guillotine from mount but Vermeer is having none of it. Jeung with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Vermeer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jeung on the ground. Jeung trying to control but Vermeer is having none of it. Jeung is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Marco Vermeer is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Jeung working for a guillotine from mount but Vermeer is in no mood to give up. Jeung trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vermeer tries to reverse the position but Jeung maintains control. Jeung looking to control but Vermeer is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Vermeer defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Jeung. Jeung trying to control but he's not successful this time. Jeung stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Marco Vermeer. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Vermeer, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
