The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Schwarzwelder. Stark Iii does a little dance to reset his feet.
Stark Iii throws a sloppy head kick and Schwarzwelder moves out of range easily.
Schwarzwelder scores with a takedown into Stark Iii's guard.
Schwarzwelder postures up in Stark Iii's guard and throws a big left but Stark Iii blocks it.
Schwarzwelder postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Schwarzwelder has gone for a leg lock! Stark Iii slips out almost immediately though and dives into Schwarzwelder's guard.

Stark Iii really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Schwarzwelder. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Schwarzwelder counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Schwarzwelder.
Tomas Schwarzwelder overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Schwarzwelder is working Stark Iii over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Schwarzwelder sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Stark Iii's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Schwarzwelder lands a nice short elbow.

Schwarzwelder has hold of Stark Iii's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Stark Iii manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
