Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jason Maher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Asdrubal Corachan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Corachan's choice of entrance music: The Locomotion . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Maher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Asdrubal Corachan!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maher throws a leg kick that misses.
Maher keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Maher half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Corachan misses with a takedown attempt - Maher sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Maher tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Corachan manages to circle out of the way.
Corachan just misses with a punch to the body.
Corachan scores with a jab to the body.
Corachan gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Corachan keeping moving, preventing Maher from controlling successfully.
Maher in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Corachan throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Corachan looking for a sweep. Not yet Corachan, not yet.
Maher stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Corachan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Maher takes a decent strike to the side of the head.

Corachan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Maher forces his way into half guard.
Maher thows a huge punch but Corachan dodges it nicely.
Maher wants to free his trapped foot but Corachan is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Corachan flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Maher is looking to take a break and control but Corachan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've been hearing good reports from Maher's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maher wants to work for an arm triangle but Corachan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Corachan is pressing down on Maher's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Maher trying to control the position from guard on top but Corachan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Corachan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Maher can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Corachan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Corachan is on top in guard.
Corachan trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Maher escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Corachan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Maher lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Corachan is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Maher frees his head nicely. Oh but Corachan has switched to an armbar! Maher is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

In his post fight interview, Asdrubal Corachan started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
