The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown Jr circles away from the clinch attempt
enabling Brown Jr to counter with a crisp jab.
Avey ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A looping hook to the body misses from Brown Jr. Avey does a little dance to reset his feet.
Brown Jr looks to score with a jab to the body but Avey is just out of range.
Avey gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Brown Jr counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Brown Jr lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Brown Jr takes a shot right to the bread basket.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brown Jr lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Avey tries to clinch there but Brown Jr circles away.
Brown Jr throws a body punch but Avey moves out of range.
Avey misses with a takedown
and Brown Jr counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Avey wants to clinch.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Brown Jr.
Brown Jr moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Brown Jr swings and misses with a hook to the body.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Avey! But no joy.
Avey closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Brown Jr's guard.

Brown Jr is working an open guard so Avey takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Avey is stalling here. Brown Jr is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Avey seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Brown Jr has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Avey might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Brown Jr haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
