Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 27 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kirk Hall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Smoosh Jackson! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Chad Campbell and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson is looking to clinch but Hall is avoiding it.
Hall misses with a hook. Jackson ducked under it nicely. Jackson is looking to clinch. No joy there for Hall, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jackson with a poor takedown and Hall cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Smoosh Jackson has been cut. Hall throws a series of punches but Jackson avoids them all with ease. A big left from Hall misses. Hall throws a right hand that Jackson ducks under and follows up with a left that Jackson also avoids with ease. Jackson throws out a counter right but Hall avoids it with no problem. Hall throws a right and a left that Jackson avoids nicely. Hall looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Some wild striking there from Hall.
Hall lands with an uppercut that bounces Jackson off the cage and back into range. Hall dodges the punch combination from Jackson.
This has been an exciting period of action! Jackson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hall defends well and Jackson ends up having to push Hall into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Hall lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jackson circles away quickly and effectively. Jackson let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hall swats away the attempt to clinch by Jackson. Jackson wants to clinch up but Hall keeps it at a distance. Kirk Hall is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The fight stays on the outside here - Jackson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Some wild striking there from Hall.
Hall throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jackson. Jackson moves away from the strike by Hall. Jackson ducks straight into an uppercut from Hall and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Jackson manages to regain guard straight away.
Jackson is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Hall gets to his feet and stands over Jackson, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Jackson felt that one! Hall unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Jackson from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kirk Hall!
