Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, TJ Mcgregor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Forrest Bondurant! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mcgregor digs a good hook to Bondurant's body.
Mcgregor looking to score a takedown here. Bondurant is defending well but Mcgregor drives through and ends up in Bondurant's guard. Bondurant manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Bondurant throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Mcgregor blocks it with crossed arms. Mcgregor leaning against his opponent.
Mcgregor really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Bondurant content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Mcgregor breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bondurant shoots for a double leg takedown but Mcgregor sprawls well. He's pushed Bondurant's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Bondurant shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mcgregor but Mcgregor pushes him off and we're back to square one. Mcgregor darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mcgregor is trying to control. Bondurant wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bondurant wants to control but Mcgregor is keeping busy and won't allow it. Mcgregor is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Bondurant is trying to maintain the position but Mcgregor is very close to passing his half guard. Mcgregor prevents Bondurant from improving his position. Ground and pound from Mcgregor. Mcgregor prevents Bondurant from improving his position. Mcgregor wants to pass the guard but Bondurant is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bondurant is trying to control but can't.
Mcgregor tries to pass to full mount but Bondurant defends it. Mcgregor wants to control but Bondurant is keeping him busy. Mcgregor landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Bondurant pushes Mcgregor off looking to stand but Mcgregor dives back in and keeps control.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mcgregor connects with a nice short shot to Bondurant's temple. Mcgregor stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcgregor with a lazy takedown attempt and Bondurant counters by clinching up. Mcgregor throws a knee to the head but misses.

Bondurant really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mcgregor. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bondurant controlling the position well. Mcgregor wants to pass the guard but Bondurant is defending well. Mcgregor is trying to control. Bondurant wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Mcgregor decides to return to a standing position. Bondurant takes a shot to the body in his stride.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bondurant shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bondurant was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! You can see the frustration on Mcgregor's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mcgregor sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mcgregor trying to control from the bottom.
Mcgregor gets back to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mcgregor is on top in guard.
Mcgregor is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
TJ Mcgregor dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Bondurant closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mcgregor's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcgregor looking for a sweep. Not yet Mcgregor, not yet. Mcgregor controls Bondurant momentarily but Bondurant frees himself. Bondurant trying to control but Mcgregor is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mcgregor wants to control but Bondurant passes easily into half guard.
Bondurant is stalling here. Mcgregor is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Bondurant seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Mcgregor has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Bondurant is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Mcgregor has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Mcgregor drives through with a takedown into Bondurant's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Bondurant pushes Mcgregor off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bondurant shoots in and bounces Mcgregor off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Bondurant wants to pass the guard but Mcgregor is keeping the position. Mcgregor is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Bondurant tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Mcgregor manages to move to mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. You get the feeling that Bondurant really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Bondurant is wriggling around trying to escape.
Mcgregor has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Bondurant is forced to tap!
