Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nate Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matt Hughes has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 20 - 0, fighting out of London, Nate Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Hughes! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz on the wrong end of a nice hook. Diaz connects with the punch. Hughes moves out of range of the body kick from Diaz.
Hughes misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Diaz.
As Hughes looks to move away, Diaz throws a big counter combo but Hughes just gets out of the way. Diaz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hughes throws a sloppy head kick and Diaz moves out of range easily. Diaz went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Hughes takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hughes scores with a nice head shot. Diaz fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Hughes takes a shot to the body in his stride.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Hughes throws a poor cross that misses
and Diaz counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Hughes moves out of range of the leg kick from Diaz. Diaz throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Diaz throws a hook to the side of Hughes's head but Hughes sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Hughes changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Diaz displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
It looks like Matt Hughes has been cut. Diaz jabs Hughes to the body, keeping him at a distance. Diaz slips a jab from Hughes. Diaz swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Diaz will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Diaz lands with a right hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hughes throws a lazy right hand but Diaz sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. This has been an exciting period of action! A telegraphed right hand from Hughes misses the target. Diaz throws a body punch but Hughes moves out of range. Hughes is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Diaz. Diaz delivers a nice body kick. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Diaz, as that shot connected.
Diaz circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Hughes to the canvas! Hughes doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Diaz keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nate Diaz! Nate Diaz decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
