Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Harold Wall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Churcke Lidl!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Ren Mimura and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lidl scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Wall is defending against the submission attempts here by Lidl.
Lidl is just content to waste time from the top position. Wall takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Lidl throws a big elbow that misses.
Wall has a closed guard, preventing Lidl from standing up.
Wall not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lidl throws an elbow that misses. Wall uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lidl's guard. Nice move by Wall!

Lidl seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Wall tries to stand but Lidl is controlling from the bottom.

Wall really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Wall wants to stand but Lidl has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Lidl is working an open guard so Wall takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Lidl feints and as Wall raises his hands in defense, Lidl changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Lidl is pushing down on Wall's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wall is fighting to maintain full guard but Lidl has managed to sneak the leg through.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lidl is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wall sees it coming and defends easily.
Wall is not content to let Lidl control the position.
Wall tries to get to full guard but Lidl has control of the leg.
Lidl thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wall's head.
Lidl is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Wall reverses the position - he's now on top in Lidl's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wall is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wall wants to stand but Lidl has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Wall trying to control the position from guard on top but Lidl is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lidl wants to sweep here but Wall controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wall seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lidl rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Wall counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Wall stands up and beckons Lidl to join him on the feet.
Lidl misses with a jab, cross combination.

Wall is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lidl's half guard.
Wall is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Wall lands a nice short elbow.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lidl desperately trying to maintain half guard.

Wall decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Wall looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Lidl!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
You can see the frustration on Lidl's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Lidl is trying to work for a sweep but Wall has mounted him!
Wall tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Harold Wall overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Wall has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Lidl looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.

Lidl is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Wall looking to control and managing it successfully.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lidl can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Lidl is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Lidl feints and as Wall raises his hands in defense, Lidl changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lidl lands a couple of elbows.
Wall lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Wall gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
A combination from Lidl does no damage.
Lidl tries to clinch but Wall moves out of range.
Wall tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lidl manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Lidl scores with a takedown into Wall's guard.
Lidl stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wall swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Lidl wants to control from the top but Wall keeps moving.
Lidl trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Lidl tries to free his leg and advance position but Wall is retaining full guard.
Lidl must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Lidl wants to control from the top but Wall keeps moving.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Lidl shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Lidl takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Lidl drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Wall manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lidl has Wall in his guard.

Lidl is working an open guard so Wall takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Wall appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Lidl scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Lidl goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Wall has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Lidl but great work by Wall.

Wall stands up and beckons Lidl to his feet.

Wall closes the distance and clinches.

Wall has picked Lidl up - he's going for a ride! Wall dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wall seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Wall wants to work for an arm triangle but Lidl is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Wall looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Lidl wants to improve his position but Wall is controlling well.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Harold Wall.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wall, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
