PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wampage Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donald Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson comes to the cage accompanied by Come Over (feat. Stylo G). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wampage Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Donald Evans!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson lunges at Evans with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Evans's hand.
Evans doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Evans throws out a loose jab but Johnson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Johnson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Johnson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A big right from Evans misses.
Evans walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Evans tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Evans fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Evans breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Johnson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Evans swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Johnson misses with the combination.
A little jabbing left from Evans on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
A leg kick checked by Johnson.
Evans throws a sloppy head kick and Johnson moves out of range easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson misses with a kick to the body
and Johnson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Evans throws an off balance right hand
and Johnson counters with a nice uppercut.
Johnson misses with an uppercut. Evans saw that one coming.
It seemed like Evans was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Johnson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Evans counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Evans stuns Johnson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Johnson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Evans loads up on a big right hand but Johnson slips the punch.
Johnson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Johnson pushes Evans up against the cage in a clinch.
Evans throws a punch but it's blocked by Johnson.
Johnson blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Evans told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Johnson doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Johnson's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Evans throws a head punch that misses.
Johnson blocks an uppercut.

Johnson's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Johnson has a couple of punches blocked by Evans.
Evans struggles to land a body shot inside as Johnson controls his hands.
Evans misses with the head strike.
Evans jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Johnson walks away with a smile on his face. Evans gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Johnson moves into range and connects with a jab.
Johnson throws out a loose jab but Evans uses good head movement to avoid it.
Evans slips a jab from Johnson.
Wampage Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Evans works Johnson's body with a nice hook.
Evans showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Johnson.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Evans connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Johnson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Johnson duly obliges.
Evans scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Evans throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Johnson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Johnson throws an off balance right hand
and Evans counters with a nice uppercut.
Johnson misses with a wild body shot.
A solid leg kick lands there for Evans.
A big right from Johnson misses.
Evans looks like he wants to counter punch here.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Evans crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Johnson - the referee stops the clock and Evans gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Johnson. Evans manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Evans lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Johnson is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Johnson gets hit by the mother of all head kicks and drops to the canvas in a crumpled heap! Woooow, the Internet is going to be talking about this one for weeks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Donald Evans!
In his post fight interview, Donald Evans started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
