Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jay Jims! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Steven Seagull! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jims shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Seagull tries to get to full guard but Jims has control of the leg. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jims slips a nice elbow through Seagull's hands, connecting with Seagull's forehead. Seagull is trying to get back to full guard. Seagull felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Seagull is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jims drops an elbow to the side of Seagull's head. Jims perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jims is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Jims is figuring out what he wants to do next. Seagull manages to get to full guard.
Jims not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Jims stands and steps away. Seagull gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. A left and a right from Seagull both land. Nice combination.
It looks like Jay Jims has been cut. Seagull looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Jims is trying to maintain the position but Seagull is very close to passing his half guard. Seagull tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jims knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Seagull is keen to just control but Jims is a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Seagull stops Jims from getting back to his feet.
Jims is staying active underneath Seagull, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Jims keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Seagull missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Jims is looking to control Seagull's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jims avoid being mounted?
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Jims has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Good exchange - Seagull coming out on top. Seagull scores with a one two! Jims had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Seagull shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Jims has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Seagull is on him like a limpet, forcing Jims back against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jims is trying to push Seagull away but Seagull has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Jims is trying to force a seperation but Seagull has the dominant position. Seagull managing to block the knees to the body from Jims.
Seagull decides to pull guard. Seagull wants to stand and escape but Jims is having none of it. Jims postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Seagull has his foot on Jims's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jims works his way back into a safe position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steven Seagull dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jay Jims's cut. That's time! Jims's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Seagull has closed the distance and engaged Jims in a clinch.
Seagull has Jims pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Seagull pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Jims tumbling to the mat - Seagull dives into Jims's guard. Jims is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Jims on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jims tries to get out of the position. Jims is pulling down on Seagull's head. It's preventing any offense from Seagull, at least for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jims is trying to control the position but Seagull postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jims pulls Seagull in close to prevent any damage. Seagull trying to control but Jims is working from the bottom. Jims is striking but Seagull is not phased and passes to half guard. Jims flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Seagull seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jims does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Jims actively working from the bottom here. Jay Jims overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jims is concentrating on defense, preventing Seagull from advancing position.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Seagull pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Jims back to the cage. Seagull follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Seagull throws a combination that misses so Jims counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Jims has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Jims stands up from guard. Let's bang! Seagull drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jims explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Seagull is breathing heavily. Seagull swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Seagull lands a nice shot that snaps Jims's head back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Seagull scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Jims closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jims lands in his opponent's guard. Jims stands up and waves to Seagull to follow him. Steven Seagull seems to be getting the better of the standup. Jims closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Seagull has Jims pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Seagull pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Jims tumbling to the mat - Seagull dives into Jims's guard. Jims tries to strike from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Seagull wants to control from the top but Jims keeps moving. Jims looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Seagull wants to control from the top but Jims keeps moving. Seagull showing good wrestling skills to control the position. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Jims doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

A close second round but Steven Seagull will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Jay Jims's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are working up against the cage. Jims manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. Seagull turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Seagull manages to end up in side control. Jims tries to escape but Seagull is in control. Seagull wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jims keeps working. Seagull is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Jims is trying to control Seagull's posture but Seagull avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Seagull trying to control the action but Jims is working from the bottom. Jims bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Jims darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jims seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Jay Jims has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jims takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Jims knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Seagull on the ground. Jims looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Seagull with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Seagull trying to control here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jims trying to control from Seagull's half guard. Seagull has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Jims connects with a couple of short punches. Seagull is looking to stand up but Jims isn't so interested in that idea. Seagull had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jims defends it easily. Jims stays in close to Seagull's body and controls the position. Steven Seagull is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Jims with a nice head shot there.
And that's the end of the fight! Jay Jims showed his dominance in that final round. I think Seagull has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
