Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tupe Taualai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sullivan Hope (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sullivan Hope is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tupe Taualai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sullivan Hope!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taualai gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Taualai is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hope throws a big right hand that misses.
Hope is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Hope might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Hope distracts Taualai with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Hope seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hope pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Taualai is keeping the position for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Hope shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Taualai is trying to defend but Hope finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Hope seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Hope throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hope lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Tupe Taualai is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Taualai tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hope manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Hope drives through with a takedown into Taualai's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hope's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Let's hope that Hope has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Hope.

Taualai lands a really nice looking cross but Hope seems unphased.
Good exchange - Taualai coming out on top.
Taualai cracks Hope with an open hand slap.

Hope shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hope was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hope is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Taualai will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Hope lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Taualai down.
Hope creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Taualai tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hope in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Hope is working Taualai over with some ground and pound from side control.

Hope working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Hope has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hope looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Taualai is fending him off so far but Hope persists. Nope, Taualai circles away and we're back to standing.

Hope manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Taualai on his heels. He'll look to pass Taualai's guard now, I'm sure.

Sullivan Hope showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hope seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Hope content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Hope is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Taualai keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Tupe Taualai has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hope lands a big shot there that rocks Taualai but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

BOOM! Hope connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Hope takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
