Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bodgan Petrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Kevin Rush enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bodgan Petrov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kevin Rush!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrov misses with a takedown attempt - Rush sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rush takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Rush's coach down at Canadian Dragon MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Rush's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Rush takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Rush tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kevin Rush seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rush feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Petrov's calf.
Rush throws a right and a left that both miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Petrov is taking a breather. Rush says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rush can do anything to dispel that myth.

Petrov seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Petrov lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Petrov lands a nice short elbow.
Rush really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Petrov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Petrov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Petrov lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Petrov is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Petrov lands a big shot there that rocks Rush but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Petrov pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Petrov postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Rush is out cold - huge knockout for Petrov!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Bodgan Petrov!
Bodgan Petrov seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
