Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tim Song (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stuart Wray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Song comes into the arena with I Want to be More by Paul Dateh blaring out of the sound system. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tim Song!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stuart Wray!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Song scores with a takedown into Wray's guard.
Song passes into half guard.
Song trying to control the action but Wray is working from the bottom.
Song trying to advance position but Wray counters by regaining guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Song trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Wray controls Song momentarily but Song frees himself.
Wray keeping moving, preventing Song from controlling successfully.
Song is really struggling to control Wray but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Song looking to pass the guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Song won't allow Wray to get back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Wray cracks the inside of Song's front leg.
Wray keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Song shoots in and drives through. Wray sprawls well.
Horrible takedown by Song or perhaps it was just good defense by Wray which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Song. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Donk. Wray catches Song right on the button with a cross.
Song slips under a jab from Wray.
Wray pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Wray gets caught flat footed, as Song shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Song is breathing heavily.
Wray keeping moving, preventing Song from controlling successfully.

Wray looking for a guillotine here but Song defends easily.
Song controlling from the top position.

Song trying to control the position from guard on top but Wray is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Song tries to free his leg and advance position but Wray is retaining full guard.
Song wants to control from the top but Wray keeps moving.
Song pushing down on Wray's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Song is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Song trying to mount his opponent but Wray defends it.
Wray tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Wray is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Song's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Song's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Song manages to reverse the position and now he's in Wray's guard. Nice work there by Song.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Song throws a big right hand that misses.
Wray is looking to stand up but Song isn't so interested in that idea.
Song wants to control from the top but Wray keeps moving.
Song trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Wray keeping moving, preventing Song from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Song blocks a head kick by Wray.
Wray tries to clinch but Song moves out of range.
Song swats away the attempt to clinch by Wray.
A head kick from Wray lands but Song takes it in his stride.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Stuart Wray will probably get the nod.
That's time! Song's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Wray.

Song closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Song tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Wray is looking to regain half guard here but Song keeps moving and retains side control.
Song tries to advance position but instead Wray slips a leg back in to half guard.
Wray is not content to let Song control the position.
Wray is looking to improve his position.
Song wants to control but Wray is keeping him busy.

Song content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Wray taking some punishment here, with Song in his half guard.
Song controlling the pace.
Wray is refusing to be controlled, as Song sits in half guard.
Song sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Wray defending well though.
Song not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Song is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Wray wants to get back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Wray is looking to improve his position.
Song keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Song scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Wray keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Song not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Song working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Wray's thigh. Wray counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Song's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Song has gone for a leg lock! Wray slips out almost immediately though and dives into Song's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Song looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Wray passes into half guard.
Song is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Song works his way to full guard. Good work.

Song working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Wray has passed into half guard!
Wray is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Wray is keen to just control but Song is a slippery customer.
Song tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Wray has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Song is trying to escape the mount.
Wray trying to control but Song is having none of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wray throws some wild stikes that Song manages to avoid easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Song dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Wray tries a head kick but it misses.
Wray misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wray looks to score with a jab to the body but Song is just out of range.
Wray tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wray works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Song slips a jab from Wray.
Song fails with a takedown attempt.
Song avoids the head kick by Wray.

Song fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wray sprawls well initially but Song persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wray won't allow Song to pass to mount.
Song thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Song is looking to advance position but Wray won't allow it.
Song wants to control but Wray is keeping him busy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Song is working for a kimura but Wray is defending it quite comfortably.
Song missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Song is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Wray wants to get back to full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Wray wants to clinch.
Wray misses with a head kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Song tries for a takedown but Wray sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Wray throws a head kick but Song moves out of range.
Song shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wray as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Song. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wray is looking to clinch but Song is avoiding it.
Stuart Wray is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Song takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Song swats away the attempt to clinch by Wray.
Wray swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Wray throws a head kick that Song semi-blocks.
Wray keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Wray is looking to clinch.
Song will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Song shoots in and bounces Wray off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Song stopping the sweep attempt from Wray.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wray is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Song wants to pass the guard but Wray is keeping the position.

Song postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wray is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Song, into his guard.

Song has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wray can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Wray decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Song, up you get!
Song misses with a body kick.
Nice takedown defense from Wray. No joy for Song on that attempt.
Wray tries to clinch up.
Wray throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Tim Song is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wray is looking to clinch.
Song avoids the head kick by Wray.
Song blocks a head kick by Wray.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Stuart Wray.
I think Wray has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
